At some point, pushing through no longer works. I work with capable, high-functioning adults, many of whom have spent years compartmentalizing emotions in order to function, lead, or keep others safe. My approach is collaborative and grounded in respect for each person’s pace and readiness. I am not a stereotypical therapist; my style is relatable, direct, and practical. EMDR is a central part of my work, and I have extensive experience with veterans, law enforcement, and agencies that value discretion and competence. If you’re ready to engage in therapy as a process that leads to real change, I may be a good fit.

Are you looking for a therapist to ask, “How does that make you feel?” If so, you might want to keep scrolling. Therapy shouldn’t feel like the heaviest part of your day. It should be where you feel seen, heard, and maybe even a little lighter when you leave. I bring a honesty, humor, and real conversation into the room. I’m a fan of sarcasm (used appropriately), and I believe connection matters just as much as clinical skill. I’m a strong believer in the power of pets—though my co-therapist, Lucci, is technically a failed therapy dog. He assumes everyone is here to see him, but he’s learning that not all clients want his "input."

Life is a developmental process challenging us to become all that we can. It begins in childhood and moves into old age challenging us by the unexpected. It calls upon us to adapt and rethink our ways of being in the world both inside ourselves and in relationships with others. These challenges come in many forms (disappointments in ourselves and relationships, losses, illnesses (emotional and physical), and the unexpected. Psychotherapy provides a space for joint exploration allowing individuals, couples and families to explore these challenges. It offers an opportunity to gain greater understanding and move toward creating a richer and more meaningful life.

I support women, LGBTQIA+ and neurodivergent folks who are navigating anxiety, trauma, and chronic stress. My work is grounded in somatic therapy, an approach that focuses on how experiences live in the body and nervous system, not just in our thoughts. Anxiety and trauma often leave you feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or stuck. We will work to build internal safety so your nervous system can begin to release patterns of overwhelm and protection that no longer serve you. In our work, we gently support emotional processing while helping your nervous system find more balance and regulation.

Grief Therapists
How long does therapy take for grief?
There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.
When should you seek therapy for grief?
Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.
Can grief be managed without therapy?
Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.
What happens if grief is left untreated?
Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
