Are you ready to feel empowered and notice you feel most relaxed with animals and in nature? Perhaps, traditional-talk therapy doesn't feel quite right for you and you're curious about an experiential approach to heal and grow. When working with me and our amazing animals (horses, goats, dogs) on the farm, you can anticipate learning to leverage your strengths, building resilience and finding meaning through challenges. I provide care for children, adolescents, adults and families, many of whom need help with anxiety, depression, stress, panic attacks, trauma, PTSD, grief, ADHD, family issues, and coping with disease and disability.

I have spent my entire career working to help make the lives of others better. From working with the victims of Hurricane Katrina to working and serving the homeless in Washington, DC. The majority of my life has been spent in the service of others. I graduated from Liberty University with a master’s in Professional Counseling and a Master of Arts in Human Services Counseling: Addiction and Treatment. I have learned to help effectively and efficiently those suffering from mental illness. I believe in treating the whole person, and sometimes that includes working with their families.

You’re ambitious, intelligent, and everyone sees you as the person who “handles things,” but inside you’re exhausted. You overthink everything, replaying conversations, questioning your decisions, and carrying pressure that nobody seems to notice. Some days you feel anxious or burnt out, and other days you’re just numb. You crave rest and stability, but you don’t know how to put yourself first without feeling guilty. You want to feel confident again, to reconnect with who you are outside of being strong for everyone else, and to learn how to create space for your needs, not just the needs of others.

Do you feel stuck in patterns of anxiety, depression, or stress that won't seem to lift? Perhaps you're carrying the weight of past trauma or PTSD—memories or feelings that intrude on your daily life, relationships, or sense of safety. You may feel overwhelmed, disconnected, or exhausted from trying to manage it all on your own. If you're an adult who has wondered whether ADHD or Autism might explain a lifetime of feeling "different," I can help with that, too, using comprehensive clinical testing.

Overthinking. Running on empty. You want to be present and patient, but find yourself reacting with an edge or pulling back just to get through the day. You’re capable, but worn down. I work with adults who are drained by chronic stress, anxiety, relationship strain, and patterns like people-pleasing and perfectionism. You may be successfully checking every box but feel stuck and overwhelmed. You don’t need to be in crisis to start therapy. Many people come in when things feel exhausting and want to understand what’s driving it and change how they show up in daily life.

Do you ever feel in between two worlds? Trying to honor where you come from while also figuring out who you want to become? Maybe you’re feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, burnout, or pressure to have it all together. Whether you're navigating identity struggles, life transitions, or generational expectations, therapy can be a space to slow down and reconnect with yourself. I offer a warm and safe environment where you can feel free to express yourself with no judgement. I tailor each session to your present needs rather than following a one-size-fits-all approach. I work with somatic mindfulness and person-centered therapy.

Therapy does not have to be scary or overwhelming; sometimes a little humor can help. I practice Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and am a solution-focused therapist. I work with teenagers and adults and my goal is to work towards people not needing to see a therapist and being able to have skills to cope on their own. I collaborate with clients to figure out treatment goals to know what their individual therapy entails. Also, I provide a supportive environment where people can be themselves and know they will be understood. I am very supportive of diverse clientele and love learning about new people.

I believe trusting clients' innate ability to understand and heal themselves. This belief also guides my work with family, couples' and children's issues. I help clients access their own emotional intelligence - awareness that a lack of confidence and support often block. I can help clients discover and articulate their desired change. I use techniques from different traditions - primarily Family Systems, Self and Developmental Psychology, cognitive/behavioral approaches, but believe primarily in the healing power of relationship.

FAQ - Therapist Gender
Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or because they feel more comfortable with a therapist of their own gender due to shared life experiences or perspectives. Considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender may matter or improve their therapeutic experience. The most important consideration is that a client is able to build a trusting relationship with their therapist.

Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist. For women, this could be because they believe that they will be able to better connect with a woman, and that a female therapist will be able to relate to their specific challenges and personal issues. It may be particularly beneficial for women to see a female therapist, for example, for gender-specific issues, such as sexism in the workplace, relationship issues, and gender roles. The most important factor in therapy is the client-therapist connection, and a therapist's gender as well as many other factors may play an important role in this.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
