Seeing a therapist isn't only for people in major life crisis. People in everyday life situations can also benefit from therapy. We all need help at times to understand our feelings, deal with life's challenges and feel hopeful about the future. Life can feel like a roller coaster sometimes. It may take us high with the birth of a child or falling in love and it may drop us low mourning a loss, suffering abuse, or feeling immobilized by depression. Therapy can help you find ways to manage those emotions and promote your well-being.

I help people who grew up in difficult or emotionally painful families untangle self-doubt, shame, and people-pleasing, so they can feel more comfortable being themselves. If you’ve spent your life taking care of others, feeling like you’re “too much” or “not enough,” or struggling to set boundaries, you’re not alone. The ways we learn to survive in childhood can follow us into adulthood in ways that leave us feeling stuck, anxious, or disconnected. With support, these patterns can be understood and changed. They don’t have to define us.

Not every therapist is the right fit, and you’re not looking for a one-size-fits-all approach. I’m not the kind of therapist who’s going to hand you a worksheet and call it a day. Therapy with me is collaborative, thoughtful, and rooted in real reflection. I help clients make sense of their experiences, especially those shaped by early relationships, identity, and internalized beliefs. If you're working to untangle long-standing patterns, reparent parts of yourself, or shift how you relate to others and to yourself, we’ll approach that work together, at your pace, in your voice.

Pause… Deep breath... One more… I see you. On the outside, you look like you have it all together, but inside you feel overwhelmed, anxious, emotionally exhausted, or like you’ve lost pieces of yourself. Motherhood feels heavier than expected. Postpartum brought constant worry, you’re checking if your baby is breathing, you fear of something happening to your child, guilt when you step away, or feeling like no one can care for them the way you can. Maybe your relationship feels different, you’re carrying more than your share, or you feel alone even when you’re not doing this alone. You don’t have to carry it all by yourself.

For more than a decade, I’ve supported children, families, & individuals who are rebuilding their sense of safety, identity, & connection. My background spans early childhood intervention, parent–child interaction training & family systems work; giving me a deep understanding of how our earliest experiences shape how we show up in the world today. Whether you’re a parent navigating big emotions in little bodies, an adult carrying childhood trauma into present-day relationships, or a family trying to communicate with more grace and less survival-mode, I create a space where you can breathe, be honest & begin again.

Are you the one others depend on—capable, accomplished, & outwardly successful—yet internally exhausted, often shaped by the expectations of being the “strong one” or a first-gen pathbreaker? Do you find yourself stuck in survival mode, struggling to rest, relax, or feel fulfilled despite everything you’ve achieved? I work with high-achieving Black women, active allies, adults, and executives who carry hidden emotional burdens, perfectionism, and the pressure to always be strong. Many of my clients have “done the work” but are seeking a deeper, more holistic approach that addresses the root of emotional pain—not just the symptoms.

Let's be honest—life can be messy, & sometimes the strategies that got you this far just aren't working anymore. My approach to therapy is laid-back, conversational, with a hefty dose of directness, & a big scoop of humor (& the occasional profanity.) If you're looking for someone who will simply nod along, I'm probably not your therapist. But if you’re looking for someone who can call you on your crap and warmly guide you through it, I am your girl! I have advanced training in utilization of EMDR as well as ERP to treat trauma & OCD related to perinatal timeframe.

You’re exhausted and overwhelmed by daily life. You love your family, but it’s so hard to enjoy them when you feel this way. You want to learn how to take care of yourself, so that you have the energy and space to be the type of parent, partner, friend, and person that you know you could be. It seems like it’s always just out of reach, and if you just pushed a little harder or finally got organized, you’d finally have a handle on it all. Maybe you can't even put your finger on anything that's wrong, but you just feel like things could feel better. Is this normal? Would counseling even help? (Spoiler alert: yes and yes)

Does This Sound Like You? You’re overwhelmed, anxious, or emotionally shut down, You replay convos in your head on a loop, You feel like you’re failing even when you’re doing “everything right”, You say yes to everyone except yourself, You’re tired of performing, pretending, or pushing through? If so, welcome. You’re in the right place. Imagine This Instead… You say “no” without guilt (and mean it), You trust your gut and stop second-guessing every decision, You stop spiraling and start living, You accept yourself for who you are, You feel like you again. This isn’t wishful thinking. It’s possible. And that’s what we work on here.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor working with clients in their early 20s to late 50s. Clients often come to their first session feeling stuck and uncertain about how to attain the life they want. Relationships and career stressors contribute to anxiety, leaving them confused about how to move forward. In therapy, I work with clients to value themselves, tune into their desires and dreams, and move in that direction. The first step toward change is often learning to treat ourselves with the same love and care we would show to a valued friend.

While at one point your energy, thoughtfulness and persistence served you and helped you to accomplish things, perhaps you've noticed these patterns and behaviors take on a life of their own. Now you might be more fearful, doubtful, and engaging in avoidance. What used to bring you joy is now being perceived as a chore or a threat. You want peace of mind and freedom to enjoy what's right in front of you without being consumed by all the what ifs and other worst case scenarios. You recognize that the anxiety that used to serve you is now being used against you and you're tired of it.

Women's Issues Therapists
How do you encourage a woman to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual may be suffering, and what effects it has on them, should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.

How can women prepare for therapy?
Women can prepare for therapy by being willing to talk about their past experiences and their private thoughts. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. Between sessions, it can be useful to write down notes about their reaction to a given event or how they felt at a particular time.

How long does therapy for women’s issues often last?
As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual and the challenges they face. Therapy types like Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Prolonged exposure therapy (PET), and Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. In some cases, such as for women with eating disorders, residential treatment may be recommended for an individual who is judged to be at high risk of self-harm. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

How can women overcome stigma around specific challenges in order to seek therapy?
Women dealing with domestic abuse, sexual assault, eating disorders, and any other number of troubles may feel a stigma around seeking help. It’s important to remember that these issues are not uncommon and there is no shame in getting help for them. Therapy is confidential, and women can talk about their experiences without fear of judgment. Seeking therapy can be a courageous and liberating act, and an important step toward healing and recovery.
