My specialties include trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, cultural shock, parental support as well as couples & family therapy.
Seeing a therapist isn't only for people in major life crisis. People in everyday life situations can also benefit from therapy. We all need help at times to understand our feelings, deal with life's challenges and feel hopeful about the future. Life can feel like a roller coaster sometimes. It may take us high with the birth of a child or falling in love and it may drop us low mourning a loss, suffering abuse, or feeling immobilized by depression. Therapy can help you find ways to manage those emotions and promote your well-being.

I work from a strengths-based, trauma-informed perspective and strive to understand an individual in the context of larger systems and their environment.
I help people who grew up in difficult or emotionally painful families untangle self-doubt, shame, and people-pleasing, so they can feel more comfortable being themselves. If you’ve spent your life taking care of others, feeling like you’re “too much” or “not enough,” or struggling to set boundaries, you’re not alone. The ways we learn to survive in childhood can follow us into adulthood in ways that leave us feeling stuck, anxious, or disconnected. With support, these patterns can be understood and changed. They don’t have to define us.

I specialize in depression and anxiety, communication skills, couples counseling, grief and loss, single parenting, career counseling, and chronic illness. As a Resident in Counseling, I tend to use aspects of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy as we work together to help clients see immediate connections between their thoughts and their current actions. This often allows for acknowledgement and change to occur sooner, and clients can experience the satisfaction from the results of their hard work.

Trauma takes many forms and has many meanings, and I welcome the opportunity to develop your unique treatment plan.
Far too often, life does not go as we hope or plan. It is at those times that we can truly benefit from supportive others showing us that we are not alone, and the powerful experience of someone validating, while also empowering us to overcome, our challenges. I believe that therapy is a space that can offer this support, and I value the chance to help individuals navigate life's transitions and obstacles. Through my training and work experiences, I have learned to empathize, and work effectively, with college students and individuals across the lifespan, from diverse backgrounds, and with a wide-range of concerns.

I am trained in EMDR and specialize in treating trauma, anxiety, self-esteem concerns, relationship issues, and more.
Are you feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or emotionally exhausted? Whatever you’re dealing with deserves space to be heard. I aim to create that space—where you can feel at ease, silence, tears, and anger are respected, laughter and snacks are always welcome, and you don’t have to perform or “get it right.” Sessions often include warmth, lightness, and supportive challenge. We might move between exploring core beliefs and tackling everyday stress. I believe therapeutic connection is built through authenticity and collaboration. You hold the reins; I bring support, guidance, new skills, and a steady sounding board.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists
When should I seek treatment for trauma?
Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?
Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?
Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?
It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
