Many of my clients come to me feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure how to move forward. I support children, teens, and adults navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, identity questions, and big emotions. I offer a steady, compassionate space to breathe, reflect, and begin healing. Others are adults navigating trauma, depression, anger, relationship challenges, or moments of deep uncertainty. My ideal clients aren’t defined by a diagnosis—they’re individuals and families looking for a safe, steady place to land, reflect, and grow.

I specialize in helping the teens who try so hard to hold it all together for so long that their unprocessed emotions become depression, anxiety, or even self-harm or suicidal ideation.
Your teenager is a great kid with a lot to offer. They're busy with school, sports, and extracurriculars, checking off all the right boxes. Lately, they've been isolating more or having breakdowns when they used to cope well. Friendships that once were healthy now seem unstable. You may have seen suspicious cuts, scratches, or burns that they try to explain away or hide. When you try to broach the subject, they shut down. Your gut tells you something is off. Your attempts to reach them seem to be dismissed or cause conflict and you're at a loss for how to help them move forward in a healthy way.

Sometimes a person experiences life events that bring up distressing symptoms experienced in both mind and body that prevent functioning or the ability to move forward towards goals and dreams. Often these distressing symptoms are tied to past trauma that will continue to hold that person back unless the trauma is identified and healed. Often clients report symptoms of anxiety and/or depression that are resistant to medications, and experience emotional overwhelm that interferes with their functioning.

Accepting new patients. Therapy doesn’t have to feel intimidating. Sometimes all we need is a listening, empathetic ear to help us work through life’s challenges. Many of my patients describe me as an active listener, providing insight that helps them see things from a different perspective while feeling what they need to feel. Using a humanistic, conversational approach, I help my patients focus on the direction they are going rather than where they may find themselves in any moment.

Well, hello. I am glad you decided to meet. Let me pour you some tea or coffee and let’s discuss what is on your mind. Sometimes it can be pretty difficult to seek out help. Especially for those who either thought they didn’t need it or were convinced that their issues are manageable. That often occurs with members of the LGBTQ+ community. Regardless, you took the first step, as difficult as it may have been. As a next step I want to work with you and build trust. Once that has been established and you feel comfortable, we can address the items that cause you concern.

I have extensive experience in treating ADHD, anxiety, trauma, suicidal ideation, anger management, self-regulation and depression.
Beginning therapy and picking a therapist can be an overwhelming decision but leads to wonderful changes. Building a trusting and safe environment is the first and most important step. I make sure to acknowledge you are the expert on your life and I am here to offer support and guidance. Everyone responds to treatment differently and has different needs. So, I use an eclectic approach. This includes trauma focus, narrative, strengths perspective, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness, expressive, play therapy and sand tray.

Suicidal Ideation Therapists
How does therapy for suicidal ideation work?
Stress, depression, anxiety, or upsetting circumstances can give rise to suicidal thinking. Therapy can address the events at the core of an individual’s suffering. Understanding why a person may be suicidal can help the therapist and the patient discover alternative methods of coping. A person with suicidal ideation may be mired in catastrophic thinking, and treatment like cognitive behavioral therapy is a good choice for breaking such patterns. In addition, treatment such as acceptance and commitment therapy can help a person manage their distress through better emotion regulation.

Which therapies are best for suicidal ideation?
Specific approaches used by professionals include cognitive behavioral, dialectical behavior, psychodynamic, acceptance and commitment therapies, among others. Cognitive behavioral and dialectical behavior therapies are two widely used therapies that can help individuals with painful thoughts and past traumas. These therapies help an individual tolerate distress, regulate emotions, and not act on dangerous urges.

Are there specific medications to be combined with therapy?
The use of medication for suicidal thoughts must be aligned with the underlying cause; conditions such as depression, anxiety, and psychosis may be at the root of suicidal ideation. A psychiatrist may prescribe medications for symptoms, which may include antipsychotics such as aripiprazole or antidepressants such as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors.

How often and how long are therapy sessions for suicidal ideation?
As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual. Patients may see improvement within 15 to 20 sessions, at an average of 50 minutes per session, while others may opt for 20 to 30 sessions over, perhaps, a six-month period. Still other patients, especially those with co-occurring conditions like major depression and anxiety, may need to continue sessions for up to 12 to 18 months. In some cases, residential treatment may be recommended for an individual who is judged to be at high risk of self-harm.
