I specialize in depression and anxiety, communication skills, couples counseling, grief and loss, single parenting, career counseling, and chronic illness. As a Resident in Counseling, I tend to use aspects of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy as we work together to help clients see immediate connections between their thoughts and their current actions. This often allows for acknowledgement and change to occur sooner, and clients can experience the satisfaction from the results of their hard work.

My approach is collaborative and evidence-based, drawing on cognitive behavioral therapy for anxiety and depression, exposure therapy for OCD and trauma, and targeted work with perfectionism.
You're good at keeping it together across every part of your life, professionally, personally, outwardly. But privately, something isn't working anymore. Whether you're dealing with anxiety, depression, intrusive thoughts, or the weight of past trauma, you've reached a point where pushing through on your own isn't enough. You want to understand what's actually driving your struggles and build something more lasting than another coping strategy. I'm a clinical psychologist who specializes in working with high-functioning adults and older teens (16+) whose inner lives don't match the competence they show the world.

I will work collaboratively with you to identify protective parts that have worked well in the past but are no longer helpful (i.e. avoidance, substance use, perfectionism, self-criticism, obsessive thinking, passivity, workaholism, self-harm), and to allow these parts to step aside so that you can heal from underlying pain.
My treatment approach combines the latest advances in Western neuroscience with evidence-based mindfulness practices rooted in Eastern philosophies. I primarily utilize two complementary modalities - Experiential Dynamic Therapy (EDT) and Internal Family Systems (IFS). These are evidenced based and trauma-informed treatments that aim to address the root causes of psychological suffering rather than simply addressing the outlying symptoms.

I specialize in helping adults with OCD, anxiety-related conditions, and PTSD regain a sense of control and peace.
I use evidence-based approaches like Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to create active, collaborative therapy that supports real, lasting change. I bring a warm, creative, and down-to-earth style, along with a sense of humor when it helps—because therapy can sometimes be tough.

I work with individuals who are experiencing anxiety and OCD by helping them gain self awareness, identify their values, and establish a healthy discomfort with their fears and uncertainty.
While at one point your energy, thoughtfulness and persistence served you and helped you to accomplish things, perhaps you've noticed these patterns and behaviors take on a life of their own. Now you might be more fearful, doubtful, and engaging in avoidance. What used to bring you joy is now being perceived as a chore or a threat. You want peace of mind and freedom to enjoy what's right in front of you without being consumed by all the what ifs and other worst case scenarios. You recognize that the anxiety that used to serve you is now being used against you and you're tired of it.

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Therapists
How long does OCD treatment take?
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.

What happens if OCD is not treated?
Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.

Are there medications for OCD?
Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine (under the brand name Luvox), fluoxetine (Prozac), and sertraline (Zoloft), among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.

Can OCD come back after treatment?
Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
