You are the one who always worries, but that’s just how you are. It’s a part of your personality. However now, you are starting to feel stressed and overwhelmed by mundane things in life. The idea of doing simple things feels like too much. At times, you worry for not worrying! You are trapped in the mental chatter and you just wish the world would stop for a second so you could get a moment of relief. You don’t have to be lost in your thoughts, feeling hopeless. I help anxious people like you become aware of their emotions and thoughts. I give tools to help you feel calmer and to quiet your mind.

You know you’re capable. You’ve overcome challenges before, achieved things you’re proud of, and found ways to keep moving forward when life got hard. That’s why it’s so frustrating when one area of life keeps causing pain. Maybe you’re stuck in a relationship that isn’t working, struggling to move on after a breakup or loss, feeling burned out despite your accomplishments, wondering if ADHD could explain challenges you’ve had for years, or noticing your confidence slipping away. I specialize in helping women understand and move through the struggles that effort, intelligence, and willpower alone haven’t been able to solve.

Do people ask how you are doing and the answer is always “fine” or “ok”? Or maybe you avoid letting yourself feel uncomfortable emotions? Possibly putting off facing them until you feel more ready, but that day never comes? Depression, anxiety, and trauma can do that to us. They can change our trajectory in life, veer us off course of who we were meant to be. Shadows from the past can loom over us forever. If this is your experience, my sincerest hope is one day you will feel ready to no longer allow your past to place limits on the future.

Sometimes our expectations and ideas about how our choices will feel do not match our lived experiences. Becoming a parent, starting a new job or relationship, or moving to a different city can bring about conflict between what "should" have been versus what is. This disconnect can be painful and confusing, and can cause guilt, anxiety, or even grief. In therapy, we explore the duality of your experience to make room for these conflicting truths, with the goal of unlocking a richer, more meaningful reality.

I'm the therapist to contact when you need more than traditional "talk therapy" and want real and meaningful change or when you want to "find your Self." I provide virtual adult therapy for depression, anxiety, trauma, PTSD, work stress, and health issues. We'd be a good fit for therapy if you're ready to commit to meeting regularly and open to examining your concerns (and life) in new ways. I believe most people have what they need to overcome their issues, but they may need a shift in perspective or support through change.

Whether I am seeing an individual, couple, or family, I firmly believe each and every client is worthy of the time and effort dedicated to their personal growth in therapy. I wanted to become a therapist to help people see their worth and to understand each other better. Growth occurs when clients are willing to learn more about how they relate to themselves, others, and the world around them. Sometimes growth comes with a lot of healing, and many times healing is followed by identification of more areas for growth. I am present as a support for you in this journey, which is unique to each individual.

Emotionally Focused Therapists
Who is emotionally focused therapy for?
Emotionally focused therapy (EFT) is for couples who are emotionally distressed, stuck in an unsatisfying relationship pattern or feeling deeply alienated. They may even believe the relationship is beyond repair. Very often, the partners display intense anger, fear, grief, loss of trust, or a sense of betrayal in the relationship. In addition, EFT is helpful to couples and individuals who have difficulty expressing emotions and those who have trouble regulating emotions.

Why do people need emotionally focused therapy?
People need emotionally focused therapy because the need for others is built into the brain, but the pressures of daily life can erode feelings of love, and couples often do not have the skills to find their way back to the comfort of each other. Instead, they may be stuck in repetitive patterns of anger, fear, grief, loss of trust, or a sense of betrayal. Emotionally focused therapy regards such strong negative feelings as expressions of protest over the loss of connection and turns them into pathways of reconnection.

What happens in emotionally focused therapy?
Over the course of eight to 20 weekly sessions, couples de-escalate their negative emotional reactivity to one another so that they can listen to each other and be responsive to each other’s needs. Then the deep emotional and physical bond is restored, giving partners a sense of comfort and security, which they can use to solve whatever problems come their way. The therapist plays an active role, helping partners understand how anger and withdrawal are actually misguided cries for connection.

What problems does emotionally focused therapy treat?
EFT is designed to help couples stuck in dysfunctional relationship patterns regain closeness and rebuild their relationship. Typically, such couples experience considerable distress, with partners feeling alienated and distrustful of one another, not certain their relationship can survive. EFT is also helpful to individuals experiencing attachment-related fears of loss; it helps them learn to use their fears as a way of eliciting the closeness they desire.
