People in distress are often wary of talking to someone who is a stranger. The first visit is generally fraught with anxiety. I am adept at teasing out the issues and helping a person (of any age) feel comfortable and understood. I expect that many clients will come to my office with a certain amount of ambivalence about engaging in psychotherapy. Generally, by the time they leave after the first visit, they are eager to return having felt a sense of relief and hope that they are going to be understood and "heard" in a unique way.

If you’re high-functioning on the outside but mentally exhausted by chronic worrying, overthinking, or perfectionism, you may have been told you have anxiety—yet something still feels stuck. If you find yourself ruminating, seeking reassurance, or needing to feel certain or “get it right,” you’re not alone. You want relief, clarity, and tools that actually work. Your goal is to quiet the mental noise, feel more at ease, and live fully without worry running the show.

Do you feel stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure about how to move forward, even though part of you knows something needs to change? Many people come to therapy feeling this way, wanting things to be different, but not knowing where to start. In our work together, we’ll focus on understanding how you communicate your needs, the coping strategies you’ve developed, and why it can sometimes feel easier to care for others than for yourself. We’ll gently explore patterns, beliefs, and behaviors that may have once been helpful but no longer fit who you are today.

I support individuals and couples facing relationship strife, life stage changes, low self-worth, depression, directionless, lonely or disconnected from others, loneliness. What they all tend to have in common is past traumas (little T trauma) from early life/childhood which has carried on into adulthood, their relationships, work - everything. So together, in a non-judgemental and empathic space, we work to understand how they came to this place in their life: what contributed to the pain(s) they are experiencing. So we can better understand their mind, needs, wants, desires, wishes and goals.

I believe that change can happen best in a safe, connected, caring environment and relationship. This is the foundation of my work as a therapist. I have a passion for working with adolescence, teens and adults who struggle with eating disorders, disordered eating, self esteem problems, anxiety, depression, life adjustment issues, and infertility.Being a Certified Eating Disorder counselor with 10 + years of training using Acceptance Commitment Therapy creates a solid foundation to create change. I work extensively with helping people get off the "diet rollercoaster" and learn to live a happier, supportive, mindful lifestyle.

Parenting Therapists
What does therapy for parenting look like?
Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.

When should a parent seek therapy?
When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.

How long does therapy take for parenting problems?
Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?
Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
