I work with clients on issues such as : strain in relationships with partners/spouses; coping with emotionally immature parents/trauma/neglect in childhood; infertility; transition to new motherhood (including anxiety and changing sense of self); coping with anxiety and/or depression; traumatic experiences; feeling highly sensitive.
Too often, we feel we can't connect to our lives as we'd like to - anxiety, low mood, and hurts from the past can block our enjoyment of experiences and people. We can achieve so much, but still feel unsure of ourselves or wish that we could feel more grounded, more joyful, more present in the moment. We definitely benefit from talks with friends, reading, podcasts, and all the ways in which we can learn - but I believe there's no substitute for a great relationship with a therapist. If you haven't tried therapy, or tried and not clicked with the therapist, I hope you'll try or try again!

Are you experiencing family building struggles, either due to social or medical infertility (or both)?
I offer compassionate, affirming, trauma-informed sex therapy for individuals and couples looking to start building the life they desire. When you've lived with trauma for so long, it can feel so hopeless. Retelling your story over and over again until you find a therapist you trust is exhausting and often embarrassing. I don't work like that.

Engaging in therapy can be a healing and transformative process, paving the way to gain satisfaction in your life. Guided by compassion and trust, I take a collaborative and multicultural approach to create a safe space for this exploration.

If only the image you have perfected projecting were true. Everyone seems to buy it; that you are as calm, confident, and competent as you portray yourself to be. Meanwhile, you walk around feeling like a little girl wearing her mother’s heels. The worst part is always worrying about being “found out” as the fraud that you know yourself to be. It makes it hard to be really emotionally available and honest in your relationships and you always end up feeling so alone. All the success in your professional life just makes you feel like you have that much more to lose when someone really sees what you are desperately trying to hide.

Sometimes we just need a safe space to collect our thoughts, name our hurts, explore our desires and work through our fears. I can offer you a space of hope and reprieve. Together, you and I, will work through the anxiety and sadness that is overshadowing your life, and not allowing you to live the full and authentic life that you desire. I work from a somatic (body-centered) approach, while emphasizing mindfulness and eastern philosophy, as well as incorporating cognitive behavioral therapy.

‘There is only one of you in all time, this expression is unique. And if you block it, it will never exist… The world will not have it. It is not your business to determine how good it is nor how valuable nor how it compares with other expressions it is your business to keep it yours clearly and directly, to keep the channel open.’ - Martha Graham, dancer and choreographer. As a Clinical Psychologist for the past 30+ years, I have worked with individuals, couples and families with a wide variety of issues and concerns. While problems need to be identified, I prefer to focus on the strengths that are often obscured by the stress and the immediate crisis. As the stress becomes manageable, so too can we together discover the strengths that will result in solutions, growth and improvement. I look forward to sharing that challenge with you.

I have a passion for working with adolescence, teens and adults who struggle with eating disorders, disordered eating, self esteem problems, anxiety, depression, life adjustment issues, and infertility

You will clarify your values, and what gives you a sense of meaning in your life, in turn this will help you live a more fulfilled life. Due to the recent viral breakout I am connecting with clients via teletherapy.

Seeking help takes courage and strength. Sometimes we are simply surviving in our lives but desire to thrive. We may struggle with depression, anxiety, addictions, challenging relationships, loss of relationships, loss of self esteem or confidence, etc. I believe there are turning points in our lives when we are ready to work and we need someone who can help us. I have over 22 years working with clients and have been inspired by their strength, persistence, courage, vulnerability, desire to change and hope. Sometimes, when all feels dark and hopeless, we need the help of others. I am happy to help you in your journey.

My ideal client is an individual who realizes they are navigating a season of change and everything feels heavier than it should. Maybe anxiety shows up as constant overthinking or tight chest that just won’t go away. Maybe you’ve been feeling low, unmotivated, or like you’re just going through the motions. You may be juggling a career, relationships, and caring for others while quietly wondering, “What about me?” Whether you’re adjusting to a new role, grieving an old one, or simply feeling lost in the in-between, you don’t have to do it alone.

How can infertility affect couples and their relationship?

Clients who are dealing with infertility may experience conflict and communication problems. It’s not unusual for shame, blame, and guilt to arise in cases of infertility, whether the source of the problem is one partner or both. This means that clients are upset and pulling away from their partner just when they need them the most. Some clients may find it difficult to spend time around friends and family who are pregnant. Friends and family can also make hurtful comments that increase tension during this time.

How does therapy for infertility issues work?

The therapist will begin by gathering information about the client or couple and make a treatment plan for their specific concerns. In addition to addressing common mental health issues, such as anxiety, depression, and trauma reactions or PTSD, therapists can help clients improve their decision-making and deal with stressors unique to infertility. Some examples include coping with the “two-week wait” before a pregnancy test, the distress associated with a failed attempt or miscarriage, and the shame and blame sometimes associated with reproductive concerns.

What type of therapy is best for infertility issues?

Many therapists offer psychotherapy for individuals and couples who are dealing with infertility issues. Some helpful therapeutic approaches include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), which can aid clients in reframing negative thoughts about their situation. Expressive writing and art therapy can help clients process difficult feelings. Clients might also benefit from group therapy to experience support from others who are dealing with the same problems.

How long does therapy for infertility issues take?

There is no set length for therapy that addresses infertility or reproductive concerns. Some clients might find it helpful to continue therapy during their pregnancy to have healthy ways to cope with any associated stress, anxiety, depression, or trauma. Some clients who decide not to pursue fertility treatments might benefit from the support of a therapist. The duration of therapy varies depending on the individual client’s specific needs and goals.
