Hi there! I'm Anne! Whether you're struggling with narcissistic abuse/toxic relationship/childhood trauma, healing a broken heart, battling burnout, or wrestling with anxiety and depression, I want you to know one thing: you're not alone on this journey. My practice is a safe haven for those who've weathered these storms by creating a judgment-free space where your story matters and your feelings are valid. I don't believe in one-size-fits-all therapy. Instead, we'll work together to find an approach that resonates so that you feel heard and understood. We'll unpack it all and develop coping strategies that actually work for you.

Right now you may be feeling anxious, stressed, unhappy or full of self-doubt. Perhaps you are feeling stuck in your relationship, unsure about your career, feeling disconnected from those you care about or lonely. Sometimes we feel at a loss of what step to take next or so overwhelmed with stress we can’t even make decisions. Too often, we have come to believe things about ourselves that are not true. I get it AND I can help. Together, we will work to heal those untrue beliefs and change the ways you feel about yourself so that you can live a joy-filled life and have the satisfying and loving relationships you want.

‘There is only one of you in all time, this expression is unique. And if you block it, it will never exist… The world will not have it. It is not your business to determine how good it is nor how valuable nor how it compares with other expressions it is your business to keep it yours clearly and directly, to keep the channel open.’ - Martha Graham, dancer and choreographer. Life can be challenging and coping strategies can quickly become habits. I work with clients suffering with issues related to anxiety, depression, relationships, self compassion, body acceptance, finding meaning, family issues, spirituality and others.

Do you have a sense that something about your childhood is affecting you as an adult? Maybe you can put your finger on exactly what it is, or maybe you are just seeing patterns in your life & relationships that have you wondering if there’s something deeper behind it. Past therapy experiences may have been helpful in some ways, but you seem to keep getting stuck. It feels like anxiety and self-doubt are the ones controlling the direction of your life, not what is true and authentic to you. You’re ready to address these things at the source, so you can finally work with your inner critic and regain control of your life.

My decades long work as a therapist and grief expert, combined with my own personal journey with loss, have helped me to effectively coach women who are struggling with grief.
You're feeling exhausted from the weight of grief in your body. You just want to feel like your old self again. You've tried to keep busy, joined a monthly support group, and read some grief books, but those big waves of emotion keep coming and it's overwhelming sometimes. Yet, moving forward with your healing feels like you're leaving your loved one behind. You're tired of feeling stuck but terrified of letting go. What if I told you that deeper healing comes from strengthening your muscle of resilience, not from letting go of your loved one, overscheduling yourself, or "moving on."

Are you feeling a bit stuck? Want change, but don’t know how to get there? Let's explore how better to communicate our wants and needs. Let's understand our coping mechanisms. Let's ask ourselves why we struggle to care for ourselves, the way we care for others. Let's look at our beliefs, coping styles and behaviors that repeat, even though they no longer serve us.

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or because they feel more comfortable with a therapist of their own gender due to shared life experiences or perspectives. Considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender may matter or improve their therapeutic experience. The most important consideration is that a client is able to build a trusting relationship with their therapist.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist. For women, this could be because they believe that they will be able to better connect with a woman, and that a female therapist will be able to relate to their specific challenges and personal issues. It may be particularly beneficial for women to see a female therapist, for example, for gender-specific issues, such as sexism in the workplace, relationship issues, and gender roles. The most important factor in therapy is the client-therapist connection, and a therapist's gender as well as many other factors may play an important role in this.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
