I specialize in working with people who might have described themselves as the peacekeepers in their families.
If only the image you have perfected projecting were true. Everyone seems to buy it; that you are as calm, confident, and competent as you portray yourself to be. Meanwhile, you walk around feeling like a little girl wearing her mother’s heels. The worst part is always worrying about being “found out” as the fraud that you know yourself to be. It makes it hard to be really emotionally available and honest in your relationships and you always end up feeling so alone. All the success in your professional life just makes you feel like you have that much more to lose when someone really sees what you are desperately trying to hide.

Healing, change, and growth are possible. Whatever you may have experienced or be experiencing, no matter what imprints you may carry, it is never too late to begin again. Depression, anxiety, stress - these are all real things that are held in the body and mind. The experience of this weight can be painful and isolating, inhibiting you from living the life you imagined. My goal is to help clients find the tools they need to define and live their lives as a person they truly love, and, by extension, to build healthy connections with those around them.

Sometimes we just need a safe space to collect our thoughts, name our hurts, explore our desires and work through our fears. I can offer you a space of hope and reprieve. Together, you and I, will work through the anxiety and sadness that is overshadowing your life, and not allowing you to live the full and authentic life that you desire. I work from a somatic (body-centered) approach, while emphasizing mindfulness and eastern philosophy, as well as incorporating cognitive behavioral therapy.

Whether you're navigating a season of transition, experiencing disconnection from yourself or others, wanting to deepen your confidence and capacity, hoping to find relief from anxiety or depression - or something else - mindfulness-based transpersonal therapy can be a deep support. I love supporting clients who are seeking to open to greater levels of awareness, address misunderstandings within themselves, or perhaps explore their relationship to spirituality.

People in distress are often wary of talking to someone who is a stranger. The first visit is generally fraught with anxiety. I am adept at teasing out the issues and helping a person (of any age) feel comfortable and understood. I expect that many clients will come to my office with a certain amount of ambivalence about engaging in psychotherapy. Generally, by the time they leave after the first visit, they are eager to return having felt a sense of relief and hope that they are going to be understood and "heard" in a unique way.

Do you feel stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure about how to move forward, even though part of you knows something needs to change? Many people come to therapy feeling this way, wanting things to be different, but not knowing where to start.
In our work together, we’ll focus on understanding how you communicate your needs, the coping strategies you’ve developed, and why it can sometimes feel easier to care for others than for yourself. We’ll gently explore patterns, beliefs, and behaviors that may have once been helpful but no longer fit who you are today.

Family Therapy Therapists
What do family therapists do?
A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.
How long does therapy for families take to work?
Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.
How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?
You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.
Is therapy for families effective?
Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
