Asking for help can often be an indication of courage and strength. All individuals have life issues and knowing when to seek help is essential to well being. I am a psychologist who works diligently with my clients to identify and examine maladaptive patterns that cause obstacles to living well. Through this process, the elements needed for positive change (e.g., insight, acceptance) materialize and help move one to live a more healthy and fulfilling life. In therapy, I place great value on the relationship between the therapist and the client, so I strive to create a safe, comfortable, confidential, and nonjudgmental environment.

Grief is a natural response to a bereavement or a loss of any kind, but the distress you understandably feel today need not be incapacitating or unnecessarily prolonged. My approach will help you come to terms with your new reality, while retaining a healthy and positive psychological relationship with the loved ones you have cherished, but who are now no longer physically present. We will work together to establish new strategies for living a fulfilling and joyful life - a life that can be continually enriched by the happy memories of times gone by. A life of gratitude, rather than regret.

You’ve built a successful life — on the outside, things look good. But internally, you may feel anxious, emotionally stuck, exhausted, or disconnected from yourself or others. Many of the highly-driven adults I work with are capable, insightful, and used to pushing through — yet something still feels off. I specialize in working with adults who struggle beneath the surface: chronic worry, burn out, emotional numbness, relationship difficulties, perfectionism, or a persistent sense that they’re “doing everything right” but they aren’t happy.

I like to tell my young clients that I have a great job because I get to work with students, parents, and teachers to figure out how kids' brains work. This involves identifying strengths and weakness that contribute to school performance and using this information for educational planning. Students of all ages, preschool through college, are referred for learning problems (reading, writing, math, language), ADHD-type symptoms, social, emotional, and behavioral difficulties, and other school-related issues. I also provide assessments for independent school admissions, including WPPSI-IV and WISC-V evaluations.

Need help changing your life? I am the type of therapist for those individuals that don't have tons of time to figure out their past life issues. Through assessments, I am able to develop and implement a future focused plan with clear goals and an estimated timeframe for achievement. I am more of a non-traditional therapist & most of my clients have tried and failed at more traditional clinical therapy. My clients are usually referred by word of mouth as a last resort in hopes to establish major life change.

FAQ - About Therapy for Toddlers and Preschoolers
What are the behavioral signs indicating a toddler might need counseling?
Common behavioral signs that a child may need counseling include high levels of emotional distress or anxiety, learning challenges, interpersonal conflict, anger, or social withdrawal. Any drastic changes in toddler behavior or self-esteem can be indicative that a child may benefit from therapy. Seeing a therapist at the early stages of any behavioral changes can be most impactful on behavior, as well as helpful to caregivers who may receive guidance on what symptoms to look for in their child in the future, even if therapy is not warranted at that time.
Can a two-year-old see a psychologist?
Children and adults of all ages can see psychologists and other forms of mental health professionals, such as counselors, psychiatrists, and social workers. Families seeking therapy for their toddler should just be aware that any guidance they seek should come from a professional who has specific experience working with young children, as well as the specific modalities that are appropriate for young children, such as play therapy.
What is the most effective type of therapy for toddlers and preschoolers?
In general, play therapy is the most effective and common form of therapy for young children. Play therapy helps facilitate behavior change by offering an age-appropriate way for children to express their emotions and develop more effective coping strategies. Toddlers with specific concerns may benefit from more specialized forms of therapy, such as Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy for children with autism or Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) for toddlers in families in which there is significant parent-child relational conflict.
What happens during therapy sessions for toddlers?
What occurs in therapy sessions for toddlers depends on the therapeutic approach being used by the therapist. Most toddler therapists will use some form of play therapy in sessions to encourage toddler engagement. In play therapy sessions, children are encouraged to use toys within the therapy setting to express their emotions; subsequent responses by the therapist and/or family members can help guide toddler behavior and behavior change. Toddler therapy sessions can also involve family therapy or Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), which can help improve parenting behaviors and reduce strain on families.
