When everyday life gets you down, sometimes asking for help can be the hardest. I see therapy as a journey that we take together; providing trauma inform care, CBT, DBT, psychodynamic, substance abuse treatment, and support for growth and change.

The foundation of my counseling practice is the therapeutic alliance, rapport, and trust with my clients. My person-centered approach allows for positive changes to occur within the safety of a healthy therapeutic relationship. My role is to be genuine and authentic, to treat you with empathy unconditionally, and to provide you with a safe, nonjudgmental environment to reconnect with your authentic self. I tailor interventions to the needs of individual clients, incorporating CBT, DBT, and solution-focused work. I don't believe in “one size fits all” counseling approach, strategy, so I empower clients to chart their own course.

I have specialized training in these evidence-based approaches: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Prolonged Exposure (PE) and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) for PTSD, Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT), Motivational Interviewing, and Collaborative Assessment and Management of Suicidality (CAMS).
I think of psychotherapy as a creative partnership between client and therapist, accepting the client, just as they are, while also working with them towards lasting change. I strive to create a warm, safe environment, using culturally relevant, evidence-based approaches that foster collaboration and trust. We'll work to improve self-efficacy, develop healthier relationships with self and others, and practice skills to regulate emotions that have interfered with your quality of life. My orientation is trauma-informed and theoretically integrative, using cognitive-behavioral, biosocial, interpersonal process and attachment theories.

My therapeutic approach is a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and mindfulness-based therapies such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Dialectic Behavioral Therapy (DBT).
Life can be tough! So often, people find themselves struggling to cope with the demands of their everyday life, their emotions, or their unhelpful behaviors. I provide a therapeutic space filled with compassion and without judgment for clients to express their thoughts, feelings and life experiences. I can help you identify what a meaningful and successful life looks like to you. We'll identify barriers in the way of living that life, and the steps you can take to get closer to it. We achieve this together by learning new skills and by recognizing and using the unique wisdom you already possess.

I am trained in CBT, mindfulness based therapies, and I have specialized training in RO-DBT that focuses on over-control coping styles.
Do you find yourself overwhelmed with stress or worries in your daily life? Is it having an impact on your work, relationships, or how you feel about yourself? Often, we can manage stress on our own, but other times, it's helpful to seek out a therapist for support. In therapy, we can work to improve self-awareness and understand our reactions to triggering events. We can learn specific skills to help with stress and coping, practice new ways to think about situations, find courage to make important decisions, and adjust our behavior in ways that may lead to more positive outcomes.

To aid with this process, I use somatically-informed interventions (eg relational, sensorimotor, emotion-focused, mindfulness- & acceptance-based, dialectical- & cognitive-behavioral) geared toward your unique concerns and needs.
At times the road to your fullest life is found by moving through trauma, rage, loss, and betrayal. How we cope with those hardships is important. Therapy can help you become more aware of suffering, the sources that are causing it, and tools to help you overcome it. I invite us to imagine a life beyond fear, shame, and regret. One where you feel your innate wisdom, compassion, and capacity, to live life more fully despite all of its complexities.

Craig is intensively trained in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Trauma focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, DBT prolonged Exposure, Exposure Response Prevention (ERP) for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), the Gottman Method and offers parent coaching for parents with anxious children.
Clients can experience a life situation or a series of life situations that cause some level of unwanted emotional arousal (sadness, hurt, pain, fear, anxiety) and as a result of the intensity, increases an urge to do a behavior they consider ineffective (self harm, suicidal behavior, isolate, withdrawal, shutdown, verbally/physically aggressive, tantrums, obsessions, compulsions, avoidance, school refusal). They are in need of skills to help them cope with their emotions and problem solve their life situations. Despite the discomfort, they want to be effective, maintain relationships and feel better.

Imagine therapy as a safe space where you can freely explore your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors without judgment. Brianna's approach is collaborative and authentic, meaning you'll work together as a team to uncover how these internal factors might be impacting you.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT) Therapists

Who is DBT for?

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.

Why do people need DBT?

The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behavior and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.

What happens in DBT?

Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behavior, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.

How long does DBT last?

Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioral change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behavior; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
