When trauma or stressors occur in life, we often become split off, or dissociated from the core self. Our core self, also known as the authentic self, is one that resides fully and naturally within all of us. It is place where we find a deep sense of compassion for ourselves and others, a place filled with creativity, wisdom, curiosity, and a sense of ease.

Therapeutic methods I use in my work with clients include: Jungian Depth Psychology, Cognitive Behavioral (CBT), Archetypal, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Trauma Focused, Person Centered, Psychoanalytic, Existential, Narrative, Relational, and Interpersonal, based on the needs of the client.
The relationship between a therapist and client is one of the most important parts of the healing process. I focus on creating safety and trust in a supportive therapeutic environment. Clients who are seeking deeper understanding of themselves through verbal and emotional processing, skill building, insight development, goal achieving, identity strengthening, and integration of the self, tend to be a good fit. I have been practicing for 25 years helping individuals as a Licensed Clinical Psychologist and a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor. Feel free to reach out to me to set up a time for a free 15 minute consultation.

So many individuals come to me at a threshold moment—when the old ways of being no longer fit, yet the new has not fully arrived. You may feel restless, burdened, or lost in a story that was never fully yours. Therapy with me is a place of unraveling and re-weaving, where grief and longing are honored as guides. Together we listen for the soul’s voice—helping you step into your wholeness with clarity, courage, and belonging.

I believe one of the bravest things you can do is to begin to dive deep into your childhood and connect those experiences with what you encounter in your daily life. Taking that first step can be terrifying and my desire is to help guide you through changes to help you get where you want to be in your healing journey. Whether that is learning how to set and hold healthy boundaries, managing overwhelming anxiety, practicing Mindfulness tools or addressing deep wounds that come from trauma, I hope to support you to achieve greater freedom from what is holding you back now.

I recognize that you are taking the first big step toward healing and helping yourself by seeking therapy, and I'm ready to sit with you and safely explore what may be too painful and confusing to sit with alone. I prioritize understanding you within the context of social justice and take into account your unique relation to it all. I am somatically oriented, meaning that what your body holds points you toward release and healing. I work with the nervous system and the body to access emotional memory, gently work with trauma, and co-create ways for you to feel empowered and whole.

I'm as comfortable working with a client feeling mildly stuck as one who is in unrelenting crisis. I have many years of experience working with clients with complex trauma, grief, BPD, depression, anxiety, compulsive behaviors, existential and faith struggles, and life changes. Clients that I work with find clarity regarding their deepest values and confidence in living in the present. They heal and grow. I believe in the ability for humans to transform and change and to make healthy change in the world around them. I believe deep acceptance and self-compassion are very important to these processes.

"There was a dawn remembered when my soul heard something from your soul" - Rumi - The therapuetic encounter allows for the kind of "dawning" which Rumi alludes to. Who am I at my truest being? What lessons am I meant to learn in this lifetime? What gifts do I bring to this world? What is the greater good I want to serve? Each human journey is a mysterious and beautiful evolution of understanding who we are and why we are here. We often lose sight of our inner beauty and goodness due to what seems like life's betrayals, rejections and overwhelming challenges.

Philosophy of Care: I approach the therapeutic relationship as an essential part of the healing process. Life can present us with many challenges. Many of us pass through experiences that can impact our emotional stability and create struggles to connect with ourselves and with others. I work within the context of the therapeutic setting with a comprehensive approach. I utilize many of the theoretical orientations that I have learned through my years of being a healing practitioner. As a therapist, I strive to assist my clients in increasing their overall quality of life.

Hi! I’m Dennis. I’m here to journey with you as you face your life's challenges. My approach is 'Person-centered', meaning I believe the answers to your dilemmas are found inside you. I merely help you unlock those answers by connecting with the intuition you originally had inside you but may have lost along the way. Often to connect with our intuition, life requires us to face and overcome all our personal fears and anxieties, including the shield of anger and depression we sometimes hide behind. I practice at Insights (Insurance) and New Hope Counseling (cash pay for former clients). I am ready to listen and hear you. Come see!

Many people come to my office saying: "Nothing ever changes in my life"; "I'm not good enough"; "I work so hard! Where is my success?"; "Why can't I get along with my partner?"; and, "I feel so alone." In each of these settings, I use a fun-loving, real and powerful approach - using evidence-based therapies and effective interpersonal skills - to validate, accept and support my clients in achieving their goals. I do this by teaching them skills to enjoy their life and relationships, and regulate intense physical, spiritual, mental, and/or emotional thoughts and behaviors.

Jungian Therapists
How does Jungian therapy work?
Jungian therapy, also called analytical psychology, focuses on a patient’s inner experiences and unconscious mind. Exploring a person’s unconscious mind can be achieved through several means, including the analysis of memories and dreams, and through physical exercises, such as art, dance, and word association.

How long does Jungian therapy last?
Jungian therapy is an intensive treatment type. Because its goal is to understand a person as a whole, including the unconscious aspects of them, treatment can range from months to years. Since patients learn the theory behind Jungian therapy during treatment, they can also practice its tenets throughout life after therapy sessions have completed.

Is Jungian therapy effective?
According to studies, many patients find success with Jungian therapy, and the century-old treatment has a devoted following. Researchers note that the therapy is particularly useful in improving relationships, self-esteem, anxiety, and depression. Improvements in problem areas seem to continue even after the end of Jungian therapy, as people are able to continue working on themselves using the tools they’ve learned during the treatment.

Is Jungian therapy evidence-based?
Jungian therapy is theory-based, derived from the theories of Carl Jung, a Swiss psychiatrist often called one of the fathers of psychology, along with Sigmund Freud. Jung developed his theories from observing the problems of patients, and developed many theories of how the mind works. Subsequent psychological research has determined that Jungian therapy can lead to significant improvement in most patients.
