And adoption, step, and blended-family work, because those families carry attachment questions most therapists skip past.
Somewhere along the way, you may have started to feel like you lost a part of yourself. You are taking care of everything and everyone else, but you feel overwhelmed, stretched thin, and not quite like yourself anymore.
As a mother of six, I understand how easy it is to lose yourself while taking care of everyone else. What others may see as “normal stress” can build over time and start to affect your relationships, your energy, and how you feel day to day.

Finding peace in a time of many unknowns can be one of life's most difficult challenges. Children & teens, especially, have difficulty expressing their deep and uncomfortable feelings through words. Often showing these parts of themselves through negative behaviors. With expressions of irritability, aggression, sadness, withdrawl, clinginess, yelling, difficulty in friendships, and worry. These symptoms can be worrisome and overwhelming to parents and caregivers, as they try to provide support. Adults, additionally, struggle to find peace and contentment through challenges, and can find relief here.

It is with our minds that we create the world.– Buddha.
We don't respond to what happens, we respond to our perception of what happens.
I believe we are already whole and carry all the wisdom we need within us. Life's challenges, and the beliefs or perceptions we’ve taken on, can sometimes make it hard to hear that inner voice. Counseling provides a safe space to reconnect with that deeper knowing.
My approach is warm, compassionate, and collaborative. I walk alongside you with curiosity as you uncover truth, gain clarity, and move toward healing. Together, we can quiet the inner storms and create meaningful change in your life.

My ideal client is someone who may be struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, family issues, or relationship issues. My ideal client is open and honest, because my style is nonjudgmental and accepting of all identities. My ideal client wants to have a mix of "venting" sessions and "coping skill" sessions, and isn't afraid to have a bit of fun in the therapy process along the way. My ideal client is someone who wants to better themselves, is willing to work in the therapy room, as well as outside of session.

These professional experiences, combined with personal insights from my own loss, grief, and life transitions, inform my counseling approach. I understand the unique challenges faced by first responders and their families, and the complexities of balancing work, relationship, and parenting demands.

Adoption Therapists
Does my adopted child need therapy?
Not every adopted child needs therapy. However, many can benefit from seeing an adoption-informed therapist, especially if they were victims of abuse or neglect, appear withdrawn or disconnected, have behavioral or developmental issues (which may or may not be related to their adoption), are struggling with feelings of grief or loss surrounding their birth parents, or find it difficult to establish an identity, a challenge that often becomes most apparent during adolescence.
When should adoptive parents seek therapy?
Prospective parents can benefit from therapy even before an adoption—for example, to voice worries and fears; to reconcile infertility struggles, if relevant; or simply to prepare themselves for parenthood. After the adoption, parents who are struggling to bond with their child; are unsure how to talk about adoption or related issues, such as race; or whose child is dealing with developmental, behavioral, or psychiatric concerns can address these and other issues with the help of an adoption-competent therapist.
Is family therapy appropriate for adoptive families?
Family therapy can be invaluable for strengthening the bond between adoptive parents and children, helping the latter feel more secure in their place in the family. Family therapy can also help adoptive families navigate complex communication issues—for example, parents who feel uncomfortable discussing race with their child, who in turn feels invalidated by their silence, or a child who has questions about his birth parents but avoids asking them out of fear of hurting his adoptive parents’ feelings.
What therapy is not appropriate for adoption issues?
A discredited therapy known as “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy” or “rebirthing therapy”) should not be used to treat adopted and foster children, though it was largely designed for this population. Attachment therapy involves restraining, coercing, and punishing the child in order for them to “release” negative emotions and attach to their new caregivers—techniques that are abusive and dangerous and have even proven fatal in some cases.
