You’ve built the business, hit the goals, led the teams—yet inside you feel stuck. Maybe it’s addiction, strained relationships, or a mind that never shuts off. I work with high-performing men who look successful but don’t feel free. This isn’t just therapy; it’s high-touch, high-accountability work. You’ll have access to me not only in sessions but in the in-between moments when the pressure is real. Together, we’ll face the pain you’ve avoided and help you reclaim the freedom and purpose you’ve been missing.

I believe in, and practice from, a relational perspective to address substance use and mental health concerns. I believe in an individualized approach to meeting my clients where they are and addressing the concerns they believe are most relevant, which helps them reach their full potential for happiness and personal growth. I am a cognitive guy who believes that many of the problems we face can be overcome by examining the way our beliefs influence our thoughts, which influence everything else. It often comes down to thinking about how you think.

If you’re struggling with chronic insomnia (difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep), I can help. I’m one of only 218 clinicians in the world who is board-certified in behavioral sleep medicine, enabling me to expertly treat your chronic insomnia quickly and effectively. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I) is the most effective, gold standard treatment for chronic insomnia. CBT-I works fast, taking an average of only 6 to 8 weekly sessions. CBT-I is as effective as sleep medication in the short-term and more effective over the long-term, with treatment gains lasting years after treatment ends.

Pain can either define us or become the catalyst for growth. I have devoted significant time to working with teens, parents, and adults grappling with anxiety, depression, existential issues, and neurodevelopmental disorders such as ADHD and ASD. I firmly believe that knowledge alone is insufficient; true change extends beyond mere understanding—it demands purposeful action. Clients need effective tools to actively pursue self-sufficiency and resilience.

Hi, I’m Tim Garner, LMFT and I meet you where you are. Therapy doesn’t have to feel intimidating. Whether you're having one of your toughest days or just need a space to exhale, I’m here to offer a calm, judgment-free zone where you set the pace. I saw a need in our community — a need for stronger families, supported teens, and safe places to just be. That’s what inspired my work. I bring not just professional insight, but real-life experience that helps me recognize what clients are going through — even when it’s hard to put into words.

Male Therapists

As a man, why might I want to see a male therapist?

There are many reasons a man might wish to work with a male therapist, including a degree of shared identity, which may help client and therapist connect to each other and allow for a more free-flowing discussion of issues that can be deeply personal. Some men may feel more comfortable talking to a male therapist about relationship concerns, the pressures they feel around the roles society and family place on men, career or job challenges, self-esteem, or anger problems. For some men who have not had a male role models in their lives, a good male therapist may be especially helpful.

How can I find out about a therapist’s experience treating men?

Individuals looking for treatment should feel comfortable directly asking a therapist about their history treating men overall and the issues that arise in therapy with men. A good therapist will be happy to discuss such matters as well as their educational background, approach to treatment, and how they think they can aid a prospective client.

Can clients benefit from having a therapist of the same gender?

Therapy is not gender-specific, but some men as well as women feel more comfortable opening up about their experiences and history with therapists of a specific gender. An individual may feel that they have to explain less background information and be on the same page more quickly, particularly when discussing gender-specific challenges. That said, a good clinician can transcend most if not all gender concerns. Ultimately, the most important factor in therapy is the connection and trust the client is able to build with the practitioner.

Would a male therapist have specific training in treating men?

Generally, no. There are no certifications for treating men specifically, but there are continuing education classes that therapists may take that focus on treating men as a group. There are many therapists who focus on men and male issues in their treatment and therefore have experience and expertise in this domain.
