I have worked with the abused/neglected youth and adults, behavioral issues, domestic violence, postpartum depression, addiction, anxiety, depression, borderline, PTSD, bipolar, OCD and more. I use EMDR and parts-informed ( IFS) approaches to help clients safely process painful experiences and reconnect with their inner strength.
You’ve worked so hard to do everything right...to show up, keep faith, and hold it all together. But lately it feels like you’re running on empty. You may feel disconnected from God, uncertain of yourself, or weary from trying to stay strong for everyone else. Deep down, you just want to feel like you again.

I get men unstuck. It's that simple. I don't care what it is (stress, relationships, addiction, purpose). If you're like most men, you'll have a couple good days, but then the darkness comes in. You're heavy. Distant. Your mind doesn't stop. When people ask you how you're doing, you say you're 'good' or 'fine.' But you know you're not. You avoid stillness. You fill your life with noise. Your relationships feel like a chore, and even simple tasks feel huge. This doesn't mean you're broken. It means something in you needs to change. Like a mechanic, I help men find that 'thing' and swap it out for better.

“People may not have caused all our own problems, but they have to solve them anyway.” -a DBT Assumption... Growing up in challenging family situations- dealing with childhood trauma, having an alcoholic or drug-addicted parent, or departing a previous faith system- can lead to unmanageable problems in adulthood. Do you find yourself with relationship patterns you can’t seem to shake? A negative view of yourself you want to shift? Or reactions to stress that seem larger than fits the situation at hand? Perhaps there is just pain of the past you want to work through to move towards more happiness and thriving.

Individuals constantly strive to fulfill basic psychological and emotional needs including self-worth, love and belonging, security, freedom, & others. When these needs are not adequately satisfied it may result in a loss of control and feelings of powerlessness. Life’s challenges can influence individuals to become “tunnel visioned” that hinders one to see options to fulfill needs. Furthermore, this can result in giving up control rather than increasing emotional stability, self-confidence, and attainment of goals. Having positive and sufficient options to meet needs increases hope, motivation, and a sense of purpose and meaning.

I use a combination of IFS and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), (similar to EMDR that can help you feel relief in just 1-4 sessions).
(Evening/weekend availability) Are you struggling with a past trauma or relational wound that you cannot stop thinking about, feeling your memories or looping thoughts are keeping you stuck? I specialize in trauma, PTSD, and attachment injuries, specifically for women who find themselves overthinking, obsessing, and ruminating on the past. Not directly dealing with how trauma gets wired into our brain can leave us feeling anxious & depressed, trying to make sense of what happened to us. Through new breakthrough therapy modalities that help reorganize memory and lessen triggers, we no longer have to be held hostage to our past.

I believe every person has innate strengths that can be used to help them heal and move forward. I see therapy as a partnership where the client and I are working together towards their goals. Learning about people and what they love and want to achieve in life is one of my favorite parts of this work. Because no two people are the same, I believe in combining various types of therapies to provide the best level of care possible. It is my goal to make my office a space where all clients can feel safe, be brave, and show up as their authentic selves.

As a thriving mental health therapist, I have a great deal of passion for helping others navigate their lives. The level of empathy and compassion I have for others allows me to build a strong client-therapist alliance. I utilize the empathy gained through my own lived experiences to create a safe space for healing and transformation. I'm currently utilizing EMDR, Gottman couple's interventions (level 3 trained), CBT, DBT, ACT and other forms of therapy to decrease levels of distress, improve the client's overall well-being and sense of self as well as assist others in living a richer quality of life.

Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapists
What is Internal Family Systems therapy?
Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a type of talk therapy that focuses on sub-personalities, or “families,” within a person, which may be made up of wounded parts and unpleasant emotions like anger and shame. These sub-personalities can come into conflict with each other and with an individual’s core Self, leaving the person feeling detached from positive traits such as the “8 C’s” of confidence, calmness, creativity, clarity, curiosity, courage, compassion, and connectedness. By healing a patient’s wounded parts, a therapist aims to restore balance and bring on positive change.

How does Internal Family Systems therapy work?
An IFS therapist will work with a patient to identify their particular sub-personalities, recognize the emotions powering them, and release them. By doing so, the patient should become more able to address any underlying problems their sub-personalities may have been trying to protect them from. Ultimately, a patient discovers ways to manage internal and external conflicts on their own, through techniques such as relaxation exercises, journaling, and making charts depicting the relationships between their core Self and their distinct parts.

Does Internal Family Systems therapy work?
IFS therapy has been shown to help people address conditions such as depression, anxiety, panic, fears and phobias, trauma, and substance use disorders. Some research has also found that it can help individuals deal with symptoms of physical health conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, such as pain, everyday functioning, depressive feelings, and low self-compassion. There are some conditions for which IFS treatment, specifically discussions of one’s “parts,” may be less appropriate, such as schizophrenia or other states that involve psychosis or paranoia.

How long does Internal Family Systems therapy take?
As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for IFS therapy. After becoming comfortable with a therapist and the core concepts of IFS, some patients quickly make progress. While experiences vary, most will find that it is a relatively longer-term therapy, involving months and sometimes years of sessions.
