Hi, My name is Kassie. I studied at the University of Utah. I have worked in the mental health field for nearly a decade and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I believe relationships are key to having a meaningful, purposeful life. I enjoy working with teens, young adults and beyond with a hope of turning the hardest days into life lessons that instill wisdom to be shared. While pursuing my degree in social work, I discovered my passion for working with clients struggling with body image and disordered eating.

I work with a wide variety of individuals and couples. The clients I work with have diverse backgrounds and often struggle with relationship dynamics, anxiety, depression, grief and trauma. I prioritize establishing safety and security in working with my clients so that the therapy environment is one that allows for exploring and overcoming. I utilize action-oriented approaches and this includes strategies that focus on acceptance and mindfulness as well as commitment and behavioral change. My hope is that my clients will learn to be free enough to make their lives more meaningful and whole. The best way to contact me is by EMAIL.

Hi there, my name is Shannon and I am happy you are here! One of my favorite quotes about life is by Fred Rogers, which says, “anything that is human is mentionable, and anything that is mentionable can be more manageable”. Life inevitably comes with challenges and painful experiences which can feel overwhelming and shift how we see ourselves, others, and the world. Carrying it alone is exhausting, and can make life feel unmanageable. Many aspects of life are out of our control. Therapy can be hard. Living with unresolved trauma is also hard. My hope for you is that you choose your hard with purpose!

The world has felt heavy the past couple years and there just seems to be never ending pressures and stress. It’s common to experience anxiety, depression, chronic stress, relationship difficulties and feelings of isolation. Past trauma might also be impacting you more, interfering with your overall mood and day to day life. You are not alone. These experiences, while common, are not something that you have to suffer through. By working through these challenges in therapy, you will feel better again and find balance and re-connection in your life.

I have practiced as an LCSW since about 1996 and have worked with a variety of issues that people face. Facing these issues and dealing with life can be difficult at times. I have worked for more than 27 years as a therapist, enjoying the interactions with my clients, helping them individually and as families to manage their struggles. I wouldn't say that the clients I work with are the same as other people but that they have an unique constellations of problems. There are often generational, or cultural issues that need to be taken into account. They are individuals that know their solutions will come from their own efforts.

I offer a simple therapeutic approach for mental health issues. Dialectical Behavior Therapy gives you the freedom to be who you are as well as accepting others for who they are. Learning to control your emotions is unbelievably life changing. My clients have made so many changes in their communication, anger control, and letting go of the past and living in the present. Taking responsibility for your behaviors, not giving others permission to control how you feel and learning how to love yourself first will make a tremendous impact for a positive change in your life. I look forward to talking with you. Carpe Diem

Life is full of challenges. Some challenges we can navigate our way though and some challenges we need help with through therapy. I think of therapy as one on one education especially meant for the client. With many therapy models to draw from, I take an integrated approach to therapy. I choose the most appropriate model for each individual client. I have, also, been trained in EMDR therapy. All in all, therapy can help a client to once again find joy in the journey.

How can I find a therapist in Weber County?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist, psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
