In the journey into adult life, there are inherent pressures associated with child development, including anxiety and the struggles with self-image. I entered the mental health field because I can empathize with these pressures and wanted to help others experiencing similar difficulties. I enjoyed being a support system to family and peers; also feeling that a key component to an effective support system is guidance to discover solutions, I translated that passion into my adult life.

Sometimes the ways we learned to survive no longer fit the life we want to live. You may find yourself stuck in unhelpful repetitive patterns, overwhelmed by emotions that seem to come from nowhere, or carrying stress, shame, or self-doubt that feels exhausting & overwhelming to manage. Often, these struggles make more sense when we begin looking at them through the lens of trauma, attachment, and the nervous system. Therapy with me is about more than reducing symptoms. It’s about understanding what’s underneath them, building resilience, and creating a life that feels steadier and more aligned to who you want to be.

My ideal clients are individuals feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected from the life they want to live. They may be navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, ADHD, or life transitions and are seeking a safe space to heal and grow. I believe lasting change happens through connection and vulnerability. Using EMDR, CBT, DBT, person-centered therapy, and ketamine-assisted psychotherapy when appropriate, I help clients process difficult experiences, build practical coping skills, and reconnect with their strengths to create a more meaningful, fulfilling life.

If you've been in a slump, need answers, or your life feels out of control, speaking to a therapist may be just the thing to get you through this time of your life. Therapists are not alike. We bring with us our personalities and skill sets, and that's ok! Maybe you've never been to a therapist. Maybe you've been to several. My focus is on your goals (so, start thinking about what you want out of therapy). I use a very cerebral approach to your healing. We will identify, dissect, and reformulate the way you see the world around you in a loving and compassionate environment. If you're ready for change, then I'm your gal.

I believe every woman, man and child has infinite value and worth. Whether we have experienced feelings of worthlessness because of our own actions or because of the actions of others, developing self-love is the pathway toward true joy. When we experience trauma, we develop false ideas about ourselves and the world that keep us in a place of fear, anger, and hopelessness. We make decisions based on those beliefs that cause ourselves and others despair. When we learn to love ourselves completely, we can find true healing within ourselves and the world in a deeply powerful way.

I have always been intrigued by relationship dynamics and focus my work with clients struggling in their marriages, families, and personal lives as well as those experiencing anxiety, OCD and depression.
I provide individual, couple, and family counseling and take a strengths-based, client-centered approach to therapy. I focus on meeting clients where they are. I really value the therapeutic relationship and believe it is a great accessory for change. I believe most humans function best when they have a support system backing them.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who works from a humanistic approach through a trauma informed perspective. This means I recognize how your past experiences impact you each day, and that trauma may have shattered your concept of self, other people, or the world. I will work to help you change how you experience emotions, instead of just eliminating or reducing them.

I enjoy working with clients who are experiencing trauma, anxiety, depression and OCD.
Although I take my work seriously, with me you will find: humor, hope, and sometimes a lightheartedness for the inevitable hard times life has to offer. I am available in person for evening appointments, with more flexibility in the summer time. With us working together, you should find a compassionate therapist who strives to work on the goals that drive you to live life more fully. I have the ability to sit in hard spaces when you simply need understanding and then assist you in your journey when you are ready to work through life’s experiences.

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Therapists
How long does OCD treatment take?
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.

What happens if OCD is not treated?
Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.

Are there medications for OCD?
Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine (under the brand name Luvox), fluoxetine (Prozac), and sertraline (Zoloft), among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.

Can OCD come back after treatment?
Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
