The majority of my focus is on women's issues - from addiction, complex trauma, and life transitions, to behavioral and mood disorders and perimenopause.
You feel like you’re not enough – again. You replay the conversation from earlier today: the way you apologized for something that was not even your fault… the way you shrank back so no one would be upset with you. You wonder why you – an intelligent, thoughtful woman – still do this. Maybe you’ve built a career, raised a family, or just live in a way that looks “put together” on the outside. On the inside, you carry the old wounds of having grown up with a critical, narcissistic, or emotionally absent caregivers. Even after all you’ve accomplished, guilt, people-pleasing, and an unshakable sense of never being enough persist.

You don't need to keep white-knuckling your way through life while hoping things will somehow change. Sometimes what’s needed is dedicated space. Therapy is a space to unpack that pain and find alignment. My own journey began as a child refugee, learning resilience in the face of uncertainty. These experiences shaped my understanding of trauma, resilience, and the deep need to feel seen and heard. Choosing the right therapist is a significant step in your healing process. Together, we’ll clarify your goals, explore what holds you back, and create a path toward the balanced and fulfilling life. Immediate openings available!

You know something needs to change. Maybe you're a working parent running on empty, holding everything together while quietly losing yourself. Maybe you're newly single, figuring out who you are outside of a relationship that defined you. Maybe you're successful by every outside measure and still feel stuck, unfulfilled, or like you're just going through the motions. That's exactly where I do my best work with people who are done with old patterns and ready to stop getting in their own way.

Lately you’ve noticed you’re consumed with negative thoughts and painful feelings. A lot of your time is spent trying to numb and distract. It’s hard to find much meaning or value in life. You notice that you’re consumed with thoughts about food, tried every diet and still hate your body. People around you think you “have it all together” but inside you are falling apart. You are desperate to find ways to like yourself, handle upsetting situations and have more meaningful relationships. Therapy is an opportunity to dig into those uncomfortable places within you.

I enjoy working with a variety of people from diverse backgrounds. My passion has been trauma treatment from the first moment I started working with clients in grad school. I also spent three years working at an addictions treatment center, and I have empathy for those struggling with substances. While trauma is my passion, I also handle depression, anxiety, bipolar and grief reactions on a daily basis. If you are ready for a change, or would like to be ready for change, let's talk about how to help you move through these steps together.

Women's Issues Therapists
How do you encourage a woman to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual may be suffering, and what effects it has on them, should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.

How can women prepare for therapy?
Women can prepare for therapy by being willing to talk about their past experiences and their private thoughts. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. Between sessions, it can be useful to write down notes about their reaction to a given event or how they felt at a particular time.

How long does therapy for women’s issues often last?
As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual and the challenges they face. Therapy types like Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Prolonged exposure therapy (PET), and Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. In some cases, such as for women with eating disorders, residential treatment may be recommended for an individual who is judged to be at high risk of self-harm. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

How can women overcome stigma around specific challenges in order to seek therapy?
Women dealing with domestic abuse, sexual assault, eating disorders, and any other number of troubles may feel a stigma around seeking help. It’s important to remember that these issues are not uncommon and there is no shame in getting help for them. Therapy is confidential, and women can talk about their experiences without fear of judgment. Seeking therapy can be a courageous and liberating act, and an important step toward healing and recovery.
