I have a short waitlist. The relationship between a client and their therapist is one of the most important factors in the success of talk therapy. The relationship is called the "therapeutic alliance" and it should feel like you and your therapist are both on the same team and invested in your success. For this reason, I invite you to be picky about your therapist! I am always happy to have a quick conversation with you prior to meeting. No subject should be off limits in a safe therapeutic alliance. I currently focus on seeing clients that are female, MTF, queer, and non-binary ages 18 and older.

If you are being completely honest with yourself, are you happy with your life? That question can bring up a lot of thoughts, emotions, and physical sensations. Life can be very challenging, and many people struggle to cope. The good news is, you do not have to do it alone. As a Certified Social Worker, I can help you process what you are experiencing and develop healthier, more effective coping and communication skills. I specialize in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). Research shows these types of therapy are effective in treating depression, anxiety, trauma, addiction, and more.

We all need support at times to care for our internal and external worlds, and to dive into the depths of our often layered lived experiences. To care for ourselves in this way, we may need to pull up the weeds of adversities or traumas at a pace that feels right. I hope to offer a warm and compassionate atmosphere for you as you gently tend to the past while remaining rooted in the present. Through attention and intention in therapy, I believe that flowers of wisdom, curiosity, self-compassion, resilience, and hope can grow.

My goal as a therapist is to provide a safe space to explore issues that have created significant barriers to growth, healing, and change. If you've experienced a stressful, troubling event that's left you feeling powerless, you may have been traumatized. I utilize the latest research to help those affected to not only begin the process of healing, but learn how to engage and effectively diminish and manage symptoms. I am trauma-informed, with training in mind body bridging, a holistic therapeutic approach incorporating the mind, body, spirit, and emotions that support the healing process. I am also trained in IBSR, and EMDR.

You may be considering beginning therapy or looking for training or coaching. I hope you find something useful in my own and our team’s message along your journey. I work as a psychotherapist with addiction, depression, and anxiety issues. I enjoy leading our clinical mental health team, along with operating Kaizen Center for Mental Health as the owner. Counseling provides opportunities for those suffering to experience new learning for handling life-disrupting, ongoing pain. Though we may feel and behave as though we are broken, beneath that is often a lack of awareness or willingness to care for our own needs more wisely.

Sometimes we wake up and things don't feel right. Things that used to be easy aren't anymore. We might not like ourselves. We may be grieving, but don't know how to do so in a healthy way. We may feel like we've lost our way; and that things are out of control. We may feel sad, or hurt, angry, afraid, confused, alienated, or stuck and we don't know why or how to leave those feelings behind. We may have trouble regulating our emotions. We may feel alone. It takes courage to face challenges and move beyond them towards mental and emotional peace. Thank you for being so brave and taking this first step.

Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online or over the phone can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.
What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the United States, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
What type of therapist is right for me?
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist, psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.
Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.
What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
