I work with clients on a variety of issues, though my primary focus has been in the areas of LGBT and disability therapy. During my time at the Utah Pride Center and with Alliance Counseling, I have utilized a solution-focused, shame-free approach to gender and sexuality to help my clients navigate the complex issues that accompany membership in these communities.

Jayne started Blue Skies Counseling with the goal of helping women heal who have experienced trauma. Now, as four empathic, LGBTQIA+-allied feminist therapists, our expanded goal is to help you recognize and actively dismantle felt oppression and inequity on an individual basis, including supporting people who are questioning their faith, sexuality, and gender identity. We offer a client-centered, solution-focused approach through multicultural, humanistic, existential, and relational theories in a safe, warm environment. We also use EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), SE, and other modalities to help our clients heal.

Hi there, I'm Matthew! Before joining Blue Skies Counseling, I worked in the mental health profession for over seven years in various roles and capacities. I have been a youth mentor, a group facilitator, and a child welfare worker, and have been working in family, group, and individual therapy. I have a special interest in working with LGBT+ clients who are struggling with identity issues, trauma, and faith transitions. Figuring out who we are and how we belong is a difficult and sometimes challenging task, and it's okay to ask for help.

These feelings and the issues they stem from often stop us from expressing ourselves, connecting to others, and feeling grounded within ourselves. I get how lost this all can feel, which is why I work to help you regain a sense of empowerment in your life.

I believe trauma is not our fault, but healing from it is a choice we can make. I am here to help you along your healing journey! I have experience working with women, trans, and non-binary people struggling with eating disorders, body image issues, anxiety, and CPTSD. Maybe you've gone to therapy before and learned some coping skills but are ready to dig deeper into the roots that caused it in the first place, or maybe you've never been to therapy at all but feel ready to dig deep and need some guidance.

The best way to contact me is via email. I work with adolescents and young adults ages 13-40 experiencing anxiety, depression, and troubled relationships. I help individuals learn skills that help them regulate emotions in order to improve social relationships and daily function. My approach is a relational style of conversation to help individuals feel safe and willing to share about personal struggles. We then work together to increase insight and self-awareness through identifying negative behavioral patterns and building from innate strengths which helps one’s ability to make changes that improve their overall quality of life.

Life isn’t what you expected. Perhaps something happened that you never imagined would happen to you and it threw all of your life plans off course. Or maybe you look in the mirror and just don’t recognize the person you see. Either way, your life has taken a turn and suddenly you’re in unchartered territory feeling unprepared, lost, afraid, and alone. Guess what? You’re not alone. I can help you process the unexpected, regain control of yourself, move forward to create life-altering changes and establish a reality that is likely better than you can visualize right now. All you have to do is reach out.

Hi my name is Adriana, and I am a therapist who works through a feminist lens and is unapologetically body-affirming, social-justice-oriented, sex-positive, and LGBTQIA+ affirming. As part of working together, I like to take a look at how the different parts that make up who you are, inform or impact your concerns and the way you experience life. I also support the process of exploring the learned expectations and messages society has told us to feel that sometimes lead to our unhelpful beliefs and behaviors. I prioritize creating a space that is welcoming, non-judgmental and most importantly, feels safe enough to be vulnerable.

How can I find a therapist in Salt Lake City?
Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.
What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
What type of therapist is right for me?
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.
Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.
What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
