I help individuals with stress, worry, anxiety, depression, and all kinds of emotional and life problems. If you're experiencing emotional distress, you know it can affect your peace of mind, relationships, work life and more. Consulting with a trained counselor is a great way to discuss sensitive issues with an impartial person. Counseling can be helpful in many ways; to solve a specific problem, make a decision, change behaviors, get support during a tough time, gain awareness, etc. Therapy is a unique relationship geared toward your needs, emotional health, and personal growth.

I work extensively with adults, adolescents, couples and families addressing the challenges in creating a satisfying and meaningful life. Often times we can feel stuck in our lives, using emotion-regulation and relational skills that served us in the past. Like outdated software, these skills no longer serve us as we have matured, as our circumstances have changed or as we have developed relationships with others who bring a different relational culture. This sense of stuckness may lead to depression, anxiety, addictions, compulsions and/or relational difficulties that leads people to work with me.

Sometimes it is difficult to believe we possess the ability to move through our pain. Struggles in life, relationships and with grief and loss can become inhibitors to the life we want to live. In a supportive setting, I would like to help you realize that you have the strength and the tools you need in order to promote healing.

If you are suffering from your mental health, therapy can help. You may feel worried about the future, stuck in the past, dealing with a lot of stress, or grieving something or someone you have lost. From your perspective, it can feel like a part of you is lost and the world feels different. It’s really hard right now. People don’t seem to understand. Your heart is heavy yet shattered at the same time. Life isn’t slowing down, and you can’t seem to catch up. It all seems like too much to carry… and it is.

I’ve found most people are tired of listening to their shame voice. It’s the voice of “should” and “must”, which says if you don’t do as is expected, you aren’t good enough, you’re broken, or you’re unlovable. And many have lived with that voice for so long, they’ve assumed it to be an authentic voice, rather than an outside one. You want to be free of the unrealistic expectations put onto you by others that have been internalized. You crave a little more connection, and a lot less judgment.

Life seems to have a way of throwing curveballs that even with best effort and resources aren’t resolvable on one’s own. Therapy can be a place to understand and work through the sticky issues. It is a way to: build resilience, develop or learn new skills, challenge perspectives/ thinking patterns, grieve, change behaviors, align behaviors with values and move toward positive change.

After living and working in UT for 17 years, I have relocated to CA and am providing telehealth, with in person visits every 6 weeks. I have 20 years experience treating eating disorders and work within multidisciplinary teams to provide a high level of care, outpatient. My practice has consistently been 95+% eating disorder clients, who also present with anxiety, depression, self-harm and related behaviors, PTSD and/or relational trauma. I approach eating disorder treatment with a strong focus on both physiological and emotional recovery, and am able to treat those with mild to severe eating disorders within the outpatient setting.

I enjoy working with clients of all ages, especially related to anxiety, depression, OCD, identity exploration, suicidal ideation, and trauma processing. I am passionate about LGBTQIA+ individuals receiving queer-affirming therapy that empowers them to find a community who will support and celebrate all aspects of their identity. How can I find a therapist in Salt Lake City?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online or over the phone can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the United States, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist, psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
