Healing Pathways Therapy Center provides a safe nurturing environment for adults, adolescents, and children to focus on relationship, well-being and mental health issues. We focus on topics such as life adjustment, depression, anxiety, relationship and family issues, divorce, phobias, trauma, addictions, etc. We specialize in trauma and childhood attachment issues, working to resolve big or little traumas or negative experiences which tend to impede emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual growth. We focus on healing rather than just coping, by finding resolving underlaying issue rather than just putting a bandaid on symptoms.

By now you have probably read so many profiles your head is spinning and your eyes are bleary.. Finding the perfect therapist is an impossible ideal. The goal should be to find someone who has enough clinical and life experience, enough training, and someone who is interested in really listening to you to help you get unstuck from where you are now. Just as there is no ideal therapist, there is no ideal patient. We are all wounded in some way, some more, some less. Whatever problems or symptoms are getting in your way, in addition to finding relief for them, developing self understanding goes a long way and lasts a lifetime.

Do you want more out of life but something is holding you back? The connection may be subtle, but the things that happened to you a long time ago may continue to effect you today. Have you lost your passion? Are you tense all the time, always on edge, maybe you struggle to get through the day because your anxiety is so bad. Replaying the same painful moments over and over again; it is interfering with your day to day life; it’s exhausting. Your friends and family may not understand what you are going through but I do. Maybe you know the direction you need to go but don’t know how to remove the hidden barriers. I can teach you how.

Before becoming an LCSW I worked for many years as a medical assistant. My background and training in these fields helps me understand and guide patients / family members through illness and / or grief. I also have extensive experience helping people who are depressed or anxious. I believe that it is important to listen to clients and learn from them, rather than approaching their concerns as if I have all the answers. Together we can find ways for you, the client, to grow, cope with, and overcome stressors and difficulties in life.

As a trauma specialist, I work with my clients to heal the impact of distressing experiences. Trauma is much more common than most of us would like to believe. If you find that you often feel anxious, overwhelmed, or disconnected you may be living with the impact of traumatic experiences. Together we will get to know your brain and nervous system, and find ways to manage these symptoms more effectively while we simultaneously work to better understand the experiences that caused them.

Life is a journey and along the way there are often circumstances that create great pain and trauma that often redirect us down the wrong path.If we try to ignore the pain it only gets worse & the cycle of dysfunction begins! I have learned that we all need help navigating though life's trials, and yet it takes a lot of inner strength to even ask! As a therapist my goal is to allow you to reach your greatest potential during this journey and gain the right tools to navigate through anything that comes in your path!

After living and working in UT for 17 years, I have relocated to CA and am providing telehealth, with in person visits every 6 weeks. I have 20 years experience treating eating disorders and work within multidisciplinary teams to provide a high level of care, outpatient. My practice has consistently been 95+% eating disorder clients, who also present with anxiety, depression, self-harm and related behaviors, PTSD and/or relational trauma. I approach eating disorder treatment with a strong focus on both physiological and emotional recovery, and am able to treat those with mild to severe eating disorders within the outpatient setting.

As crises always do, Covid-19 has awakened people to deeper life questions than those they usually seek therapy for. Truth is, these questions have likely always been at the root of what stresses them. Anxiety, depression, self-doubt, self-loathing and relational problems are what they see. But wrestling and ruminating with these above-water issues only fuels distress. Sure, start the discussion there; these matters are critical clues. The scare and isolation of the Covid pandemic has opened most people's minds so they can make the best use of what these clues tell them. Resolve now to turn crisis into opportunity for a better life.

Life seems to have a way of throwing curveballs that even with best effort and resources aren’t resolvable on one’s own. Therapy can be a place to understand and work through the sticky issues. It is a way to: build resilience, develop or learn new skills, challenge perspectives/ thinking patterns, grieve, change behaviors, align behaviors with values and move toward positive change.

I work extensively with adults, adolescents, couples and families addressing the challenges in creating a satisfying and meaningful life. Often times we can feel stuck in our lives, using emotion-regulation and relational skills that served us in the past. Like outdated software, these skills no longer serve us as we have matured, as our circumstances have changed or as we have developed relationships with others who bring a different relational culture. This sense of stuckness may lead to depression, anxiety, addictions, compulsions and/or relational difficulties that leads people to work with me.

Sometimes life sucks and you need to talk about it. Whether it's unexpected issues or long-term concerns, it is my privilege to support you in individual therapy. Finding a therapist is the first step towards unearthing your burdens and moving in a direction of growth. It is important to me to create a non-judgemental space where you can freely share your hardships, curiosities, and joy. Therapy is exciting and painful; don't let that scare you, you are an expert in your own life.

At some point, many of us face personal challenges on multiple fronts, including life transitions, trauma, health concerns (e.g., GI & Autoimmune issues, Insomnia, Cancer, Chronic Pain) yet the options for treatment are rarely integrated. This adds stress to an already difficult situation, delaying appropriate care and your healing. I'm dedicated to providing expert psychological treatment that looks at the big picture of health, incorporating science, compassion, and your treatment team of providers. By addressing physical and mental health factors in tandem, my clients are able to experience more sustainable growth and healing.

Out of Network Therapists
An out-of-network Therapist in Salt Lake City has not agreed to any set rate with your insurer. Your plan may require higher co-pays, deductibles and co-insurance for out-of-network care and you may need to pay the difference between your insurer's allowed amount and what the Therapist charges.

The costs for a Salt Lake City out-of-network Therapist also depend on your type of plan:

In a Health Maintenance Organization, or HMO, or Exclusive Provider Network, or EPO, you generally have to pay the full cost of any out-of-network care.

In a Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) or Point-of-Service (POS) plan, you will usually have to pay a higher deductible and or a higher co-pay plus a higher percentage co-insurance plus, the difference between the allowed amount and your provider's actual rate.
