I am trained in EMDR,
Family systems
,
IFS
, DBT and CBT.
My office will be a space where you can feel comfortable and safe. Therapy requires vulnerability and sitting with discomfort. With me, you'll receive a lot of compassion and support. My expertise in processing trauma, as well as the coping skills I can teach you, will benefit your life in a positive way, if you choose to implement them. Do you ever have “big” reactions to things that don’t necessarily fit the situation? Does it get in the way of feeling confident in yourself or your relationships? That is an exhausting experience.

I am focused on helping families and couples enhance their relationships with themselves and others. I believe that all great relationships start with the self. All people have something unique and significant to offer the world, but with the stressors of day-to-day life such as anxiety, sadness, trauma, and self-esteem issues, navigating relationships can take a back seat. Each individual has the capacity to be loved, understood, and seen. This comes by first loving and understanding ourselves, and then connecting with and understanding our partner.

I work with individuals who have experienced trauma, are struggling with anxiety and depression, or are just feeling overwhelmed with the emotions and stress of the human experience. Using effective modalities, such as EMDR and
IFS
, together we uncover the root cause of distress and work to resolve issues. My clients learn the neuroscience of how the mind, heart and body are interdependent parts of our complex physiology, and use that knowledge to develop practical, tangible tools that create lasting changes. I aim to empower clients to take charge of their wellness so that therapy is not an endless endeavor.

I work with individuals, tailoring an approach that fits you specifically, drawing from my skilled experience with EMDR, Somatic Experiencing, mindfulness, Internal
Family Systems
, and Hakomi-informed therapy.
I am currently not accepting new clients and do not have a waitlist. I am passionate about helping individuals bounce back from traumatic experiences. It is common to feel broken, to feel a shadow of who you once were after painful life experiences. The healing journey is one of the most courageous adventures we can embark on. I walk with you into those dark places, offering sensitivity and kindness, helping you lean into healing connection. Among other issues, I specialize in helping individuals explore issues related to grief, depression and anxiety, gender and sexual orientation identities, and spiritual emergence/y.

I also draw upon
family systems
theory, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, EMDR, Process Oriented Psychotherapy, Internal

, and others.
I love working with individuals who are asking, "What do i want to create in my life? What do I want to move away from?". Life transitions in work, relationships, health, and faith, come to everyone, with accompanying fear, anxiety, depression, PTSD, and uncertainty. I work with a combination of approaches to help people reduce stress and return to a sense of regulation and mastery in their lives. My specialty is Somatic Experiencing as i have found that talk alone is not enough, the body needs to be included in growth and healing.

Some of the modalities used in her therapy are inspired by expressive arts, inner child work, Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC), Ego States, Internal
Family Systems
(
IFS
), Trauma informed approaches, Jungian concepts and various somatic therapies.
Most of Stephanie’s professional experience has been spent in university and agency settings. She is still involved in academia, as an adjunct instructor for the university of Utah school of social work. As a clinician, she is always client centered and rooted in evidence-based practices. Stephanie believes the decision to enter therapy is courageous. This path requires that each person be witnessed, seen and held in a compassionate and supportive space. With her help, her clients identify some of the habits, thoughts and areas that may be current barriers for them. She draws upon eclectic modalities to suit each individual’s needs.

I have training in EMDR, attachment, internal
family systems
and feminist/multicultural therapy.
If you are struggling with feeling connected to yourself, if you are afraid of your emotions or you are feeling "numb", and/or if you "don't know what to do" I believe that I can help. I work from a feminist/multicultural perspective because I have found that helping someone find the balance between choice and surrender lends itself to a more empowered and fulfilling life. I have extensive training and experience working with survivors of sexual assault and I believe when we can find our own sense of power, life overall becomes more satisfying.

My eclectic background has offered me the opportunity to work and live with individuals and
family systems
inclusive of all abilities and ages (people of all abilities, sudden/chronic illnesses, trauma). I work with people who experience anxiety, depression, negative self-talk such as “I am powerless”, “I am worthless”, “I am unlovable”, and other intrusive repetitive thoughts. My individual sessions and group classes allow you to find stability during the highs and lows of daily life, with your family of choice and your community. I believe in living a balanced life that honors mind, body and spirit.

I am EMDR, ART,
IFS
trained and informed and have a decade's worth of experience helping people in outpatient and inpatient settings create the life they want no matter the obstacles or circumstances.
Come see me if you want a kind, caring, professional with years of experience treating relational and sexual trauma. I get how difficult it is to find a therapist and how much courage it takes to reach out. You are not "crazy" and you are not alone! Let's work on ways to improve communication, heal anxiety, and increase a healthy sense of interdependence and connection with those you love. I treat attachment issues, ADHD, ASD, PTSD, Childhood Trauma, and act as a translator/coach in relationships where one person is Neurodiverse and the other is Neurotypical. My approach is warm, sincere, collaborative and non-judgmental.

All modalities used are based in neuroscience and attachment theory—Somatic Experiencing, Internal
Family Systems
and EMDR.
Do you ever wonder how you've gotten to the place you are? Have you tried to pinpoint a particular event or relationship that seemed to have "caused" your discontent? Perhaps you're looking for the person you "used to be." Oftentimes, the reasons for feeling the way we do are complex and take time to uncover. My approach is supportive and collaborative, working with you to explore the things that are keeping you from feeling the way you want to. I will walk with you on your own personal path, in hopes that you begin to feel more connected with yourself, the people you love, and to the world around you.

Feeling stuck and unhappy but unsure about how to move forward? That is exactly what therapy is for, and I'm excited to help you explore what will bring you healing, meaning, and fulfillment! I always aim to meet my clients where they are, identifying and following their driving values to create both every-day and deeper change. My approach is based on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Internal
Family Systems
(
IFS
) theories. My therapeutic style is flexible, open-minded, and well-rounded, acknowledging the person as a whole rather than as a diagnosis or a problem to be solved.

Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapists
What is Internal Family Systems therapy?
Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a type of talk therapy that focuses on sub-personalities, or “families,” within a person, which may be made up of wounded parts and unpleasant emotions like anger and shame. These sub-personalities can come into conflict with each other and with an individual’s core Self, leaving the person feeling detached from positive traits such as the “8 C’s” of confidence, calmness, creativity, clarity, curiosity, courage, compassion, and connectedness. By healing a patient’s wounded parts, a therapist aims to restore balance and bring on positive change.
How does Internal Family Systems therapy work?
An IFS therapist will work with a patient to identify their particular sub-personalities, recognize the emotions powering them, and release them. By doing so, the patient should become more able to address any underlying problems their sub-personalities may have been trying to protect them from. Ultimately, a patient discovers ways to manage internal and external conflicts on their own, through techniques such as relaxation exercises, journaling, and making charts depicting the relationships between their core Self and their distinct parts.
Does Internal Family Systems therapy work?
IFS therapy has been shown to help people address conditions such as depression, anxiety, panic, fears and phobias, trauma, and substance use disorders. Some research has also found that it can help individuals deal with symptoms of physical health conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, such as pain, everyday functioning, depressive feelings, and low self-compassion. There are some conditions for which IFS treatment, specifically discussions of one’s “parts,” may be less appropriate, such as schizophrenia or other states that involve psychosis or paranoia.
How long does Internal Family Systems therapy take?
As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for IFS therapy. After becoming comfortable with a therapist and the core concepts of IFS, some patients quickly make progress. While experiences vary, most will find that it is a relatively longer-term therapy, involving months and sometimes years of sessions.
