I feel called to do this work, and enjoy working with adults grappling with a range of issues, including anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship struggles, negative feelings about themselves, or a general sense of disconnection or dissatisfaction. People often come in feeling lost or stuck. They may not understand why they feel the way they feel or do the things they do. Some have tried therapy before and felt it didn’t work. I strive to offer a safe space where you can speak openly and get curious about your internal life. Together, we can develop a shared understanding of your challenges and rework what is no longer serving you.

I enjoy and am experienced in working with families, couples , and individuals. Clients and families who I work with often want more from life and for themselves, even if they have not been able to wrap their heads around how they got to be in the place they are currently.

You’ll find me to be a firm believer in person-centered therapy, in which the focus is on building a strong relationship and fully trusting you to lead me in the direction to understanding how I can best assist you. Other therapeutic approaches I use include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectic Behavioral Therapy (DBT), trauma informed therapy, narrative therapy, and LGBTQ+ affirmative therapy. My client base is broad and diverse as I work with many populations and many presenting concerns, including anxiety, depression, gender dysphoria, exploration of sexual orientation, emotional regulation, and faith crises.

My skills are diverse, but I specialize in treating relationship issues and interpersonal conflict.
My hope is to help. Whether you are dealing with challenges as an individual, a couple, or a family, we will work together in creating the changes you seek. You may have a specific goal in mind, perhaps even a fairly good idea of how to get there, but maybe not - maybe you're only aware of what you don't want and what's not working. That in and of itself is a perfectly acceptable place to start!

I'm here to help individuals and couples repair their most treasured connections.
Reaching out for help is uncomfortable! Coming to therapy takes a lot of courage. The world feels heavy and hard right now. Our relationships are suffering leaving us feeling anxious, lonely, or depressed. You may feel like no matter how hard you try, you just can't seem to communicate with your partner or family members. Maybe discussions turn into arguments that never seem to get resolved, leaving you both feeling hurt and alone. Perhaps you or your loved one are dealing with a faith transition and you feel lost and confused. It's hard to love so much and yet feel so distant and disconnected!

I teach couples /men active listening techniques that can immediately improve relationships.
Functional Therapy is a wrap-around, holistic method including analysis of one's sleep, exercise, dietary, recreating and stress-juggling patterns. A tuned-up body/brain can significantly facilitate cognitive/emotive progress. A kaizen approach to change allows real-world, practical strategies for growth in a short time-frame. Some issues may take longer, yet with a brief, solution-focused approach many clients reach their goals within a few meetings. My approach is down-to-earth, unorthodox, humorous when needed and with gentle, yet straight-forward feedback building on strengths and resiliency you already possess.

I have a short waitlist. The relationship between a client and their therapist is one of the most important factors in the success of talk therapy. The relationship is called the "therapeutic alliance" and it should feel like you and your therapist are both on the same team and invested in your success. For this reason, I invite you to be picky about your therapist! I am always happy to have a quick conversation with you prior to meeting. No subject should be off limits in a safe therapeutic alliance. I currently focus on seeing clients that are female, MTF, queer, and non-binary ages 18 and older.

I work with adults, adolescents, couples and family systems.
My approach to therapy is deeply collaborative, intensive and dynamic.  We will work together to get to the heart of the impasse that you’re experiencing in your life, no matter how debilitating or serious it may be.  I will help you to develop the awarenesses, the confidence and the tools to not only move forward, but to unlock a whole new realm of possibilities for you and those you love.  What I’ve been told often throughout my 18 years as a therapist is that I am direct and honest in a way that is refreshing, while unwavering and unrelenting in my compassion and care.

Because the therapist-client relationship is so important, I offer a free 20 minute consultation so we can get a feel for each other and see if we would make a good team.
Being a teenager can be tough. Being a parent of a teenager can be even more so. Because this is such an intense developmental period, when you realize you need some outside help, finding the right person can be tricky. Over the past sixteen years, I have connected with teens, young adults and their parents to help them find their way to stronger relationships and a solid sense of self. I help teens and young adults with addiction, eating disorders, anxiety and depression, communication and life skills, family relationships, trauma, social media anxiety/isolation, and more.

The relationship with yourself is vital in living your "Best Future Self" and befriending and nurturing your defeated, overwhelmed, and exhausted self.
For the most part we are all walking around pretending to be okay and hoping our positive affirmations, daily meditations, gratitude journal entries and the annoying latest push-up challenge will finally pay off with the bliss, confidence and motivation we see in our imaginary future selves. When in reality we might be feeling the cliché, "Hot MESS", which I will say has a certain je ne sais quoi about it. Right? The truth is we all have a core self who wants to be healed and has the power to do it!Yet it is almost impossible to do without true Connection, Compassion and Curiosity of who we really are.

Over the last 10 years I've specialized in working with teens, young adults and their family systems. It's hard to find a good therapist who can sincerely help those struggling with depression, anxiety, failure to launch, oppositional defiance, substance abuse, relationship difficulties, lack of motivation and emotional regulation. If you're feeling stuck, angry, lost or confused, it can be helpful to meet with someone who can meet you where you are at and help you create a better life though understanding, compassion and confidence. I work especially well with parents and teens who have tried other options and ready for progress.

In order to help my clients achieve their goals, I teach concrete coping skills, examine relationship dynamics and attachment styles, process trauma, and take a pragmatics based, actionable approach.
My passion is supporting those with neurodiverse traits. Whether you have a diagnosis of Autism/ADHD/etc. or just feel a little “out of step” with the world around you, I’m here to help. In working with me, you won’t find a stiff or reserved environment. I approach therapy with a sense of authenticity, humor, and the knowledge that none of us can navigate this wild world alone. I enjoy getting creative in providing a unique, personal experience for each one of my clients.

I work with people to help address deeply rooted negative beliefs, relationship trauma, burnout, and anxiety.
Do you feel stuck in your stories of not being good enough, feeling inadequate, or worthless? Having fears of failure and rejection? Do you feel burned out and pissed off at the ways you experience oppression? Are you anxious and have unresolved relationship trauma from a difficult ex or a troublesome parent(s), that is holding you back from your true authentic self? How would your life be different if you were able to show up powerful, unapologetic, fearless, and as the true badass you really are?

I specialize in helping people respond more effectively to painful feelings, bothersome worry, and upsetting memories. The frantic feeling of anxiety, emotional roller coaster of relationship stress, or sadness of depression don't have to be part of your life forever. Sometimes even our best efforts to fix things miss the mark and leave us stuck in a rut. While harsh thoughts and tough feelings may seem like they have a grip on your life, therapy can often help reduce your struggle, refocus on what's most meaningful to you, and develop a healthier relationship with yourself and others.

Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
