I deeply enjoy working with adults and teens with ADHD, and individuals experiencing symptoms of depression and anxiety , or who want to gain a deeper understanding of who they are. Life’s challenges can leave you feeling stuck in pain, shame, or emptiness. You may have thoughts and feelings that stop you from connecting with others or knowing how you bring value to the world. If you have (or suspect you have) ADHD, you may feel overwhelmed from constantly trying to fit into a box that wasn't made for you. Together, we will explore your struggles, values, and strengths to cope with challenges and reconnect with your authentic self.

We all get stuck. "Stuck" could mean: a miserable job; a tough relationship; or difficulty adjusting to life-changing news, and not knowing what to do next. Therapy is a great place to find help getting unstuck and regaining your life's momentum. I help my clients move on from stagnation and help them reach a place that they feel is healthy. Every experience is different and therapy is appropriately designed according to the client's concerns.

Amongst my areas of expertise are trauma, depression, anxiety , stress, interpersonal relationships, health and wellness.
How can we expect to run, if we have not yet learned to walk? All too often, we place pressure, self-doubt, fear, and beat ourselves up physically, emotionally, and mentally when we falter and fail in life’s pursuit. No matter the circumstances, at some point, we need someone to walk or wheel alongside us in our journey. As a multi-cultural, differently abled, first-generation immigrant Latina therapist, I take pride in being trauma-informed and understanding the intersectionality that individuals from all walks of life encounter. My goal is to provide a safe, supportive, & empowering space for my clients to confront their problems.

We all deserve a space where we can feel free to be open, to show our vulnerabilities, and to work through the barriers that prevent us from feeling whole. I utilize my counseling skills and various modalities to create a safe environment for those suffering from trauma, depression, anxiety , stress, grief, and the challenges of life transitions. I help those with whom I work identify any habits, such as addictions to drugs, food, self-harm, or white noise, which may be interfering with their efforts to overcome suffering.

I work with adolescents and adults struggling with depression and anxiety . Depression and anxiety can show up as irritability, behavioral concerns, substance use; school, work and relationship difficulties. I use mindfulness to increase awareness and bring issues to the surface where they can be dealt with effectively. Many individuals feel they have thought or talked about a problem for years without making progress. Mindfulness can address these issues by connecting body sensations, negative emotions and healing. All appointments are via remote video.

I identify as a trauma specialist but also a generalist working with anxiety and depression based challenges and relational difficulties.
Therapy can be a significant help in finding relief from difficult feelings such as anger, grief, or sadness. Therapy is also an effective tool in finding solutions and confidence in difficult relationships, or with behaviors that you or a loved one may be struggling with. I acknowledge the courage it can take to seek assistance, as a therapist I always focus on clients strengths. I often work with adults coping with anxiety and depression, relationship difficulties, marital issues, or various types of PTSD. I take a special interest in working with trauma, dissociation, and dissociative disorders in adults.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
