I have spent the past several years working with individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, school issues, issues related to race and equity, teen pregnancy, fertility, identity, life transitions, gender, grief, relationship issues, and boundaries.
Hi, I'm Eileen. I'm a bilingual therapist and dance artist based in SLC, UT. I have 15+ years of experience working with youth, adults, and families in community, clinical, and educational settings. Through my understanding of somatics and movement as well as my interest in recreation, music, yoga, and art my goal is to maintain an equitable and inclusive practice aimed at focusing on the strengths and interests of each unique individual. My hope is to support people in finding their own path to healing. Beyond working with individuals, I also create workshops/trainings based on the needs of local groups and organizations.

Our society is constantly shifting, how we interact with one another has changed, and the things we considered “true” may be crumbling. Yes, teens and young adults are the future but what if they (you) are scared and are struggling to figure out how you fit in, and question if they even want to. Trauma, anxiety, and depression can make this discovery a daunting task. Maybe you or your teen are overwhelmed and don’t know where to start, staying in bed may sound like the best and sometimes the only option. Maybe you don’t even like yourself let alone love yourself.

I connect well with adolescent males - an often under-served group.
I primarily focus on two practice areas: Working with survivors of serious trauma (combat or other military trauma, assault, natural disasters, accidents, etc.) who suffer from PTSD or other post-trauma issues, and working with adolescents and verbal children who are dealing with behavioral problems, anxiety issues (OCD, panic, etc.), or depression.

I am passionate about treating teen and young adults with ADHD and commonly co-occurring anxiety and depression that result from the challenges that neurodiversity presents (from home related tasks, self-care, homework, friendships, romance, work projects). If you are feeling overwhelmed and scattered despite your best efforts, please reach out. As a member of the LGBTQ+ community and someone trained to work with non-binary and trans individuals, my space is beyond safe. I work from an abundance, growth-oriented mindset. I enjoy helping each individual, child, adolescent or adult to achieve inner strength and happiness!.
Life is a journey and along the way there are often circumstances that create great pain and trauma that often redirect us down the wrong path.If we try to ignore the pain it only gets worse & the cycle of dysfunction begins! I have learned that we all need help navigating though life's trials, and yet it takes a lot of inner strength to even ask! As a therapist my goal is to allow you to reach your greatest potential during this journey and gain the right tools to navigate through anything that comes in your path!

Some issues have included depression, trauma and loss, pornography and marital difficulties as well as adolescent behavior concerns.
One of the most important things we need in our own lives is balance. This is often difficult to achieve with life's constant demands on our time and energy. Without balance, life becomes wearisome and at times, unmanageable. We begin to wonder if there is meaning in our lives or even if it's "worth the trouble." In the effort to find relief or comfort, we may find ourselves drawn to self-defeating and even destructive behaviors that offer immediate yet temporary relief. There are other options, a different perspective may help. I offer just this to my clients.

I work with clients 13 years of age and older with mental differences including: ADHD, Anxiety, Depression, PTSD , Adjustment Disorders, Military Life, Teen Issues, and Trauma.
Online Telehealth Therapy... I enjoy various approaches to mental health and self-care. I enjoy many pints of ice-cream, bath bombs, a good book, spending time outside, and working out. Most importantly I believe we owe it ourselves, to make sure we are being taken care of and nourished, too, through our own mental health care. My approach to treatment is tailored to fit each person’s specific goals and needs, and I provide a comfortable and safe space for people to express themselves and work through their therapeutic experience.

Teen Therapists

What does therapy for teenagers look like?

When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.

How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?

There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.

How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?

It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.

How do you prepare teens for therapy?

You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
