Come see me if you want a kind, caring, professional with years of experience treating relational and sexual trauma . I get how difficult it is to find a therapist and how much courage it takes to reach out. You are not "crazy" and you are not alone! Let's work on ways to improve communication, heal anxiety, and increase a healthy sense of interdependence and connection with those you love. I treat attachment issues, ADHD, ASD, PTSD , Childhood Trauma , and act as a translator/coach in relationships where one person is Neurodiverse and the other is Neurotypical. My approach is warm, sincere, collaborative and non-judgmental.

I enjoy working with adults who are dealing with the after-effects of chronic trauma throughout childhood. This can mean high levels of emotional reactivity, intrusive memories of difficult past events, and difficulties in obtaining and maintaining important interpersonal relationships. My ideal client is looking for ways to feel safe and secure in the world and to, as Dr. Marsha Linehan would say, "build a life worth living." I also feel confident working with clients experiencing depression, anxiety and other interpersonal issues.

CBT and Exposure and Response Prevention methods can be tailored to the needs of any individual seeking freedom from fears and compulsions. BioBehavioral Interventions is a practice based on the wonderful fact that you can change your brain chemistry with your behavior. This approach is successful with General Anxiety, Specific Phobias as well as Social Phobia, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Panic Disorder and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. I work with families and couples, who share in the distress of these often debilitating disorders. I have treated children as young as three, and adults as old as 89, and all ages in between.

Anxiety, depression, or even intense stress can often get in the way of living the life we are meant to live. I begin by assisting you in gaining a sense of empowerment and clear plan to move toward or return to your true self. I provide space for you to break down self-destructive thought and behavioral patterns often caused by a history of trauma , abuse, or loss. You soon begin living your potential with improved body, mind, and soul connection. In couples therapy, I assist in healing the partnership by regaining connection and establishing shared meaning for more consistent positive interactions and fulfilling relationship.

I have a background of trauma play therapy and DBT.
Online Telehealth Therapy... I enjoy various approaches to mental health and self-care. I enjoy many pints of ice-cream, bath bombs, a good book, spending time outside, and working out. Most importantly I believe we owe it ourselves, to make sure we are being taken care of and nourished, too, through our own mental health care. My approach to treatment is tailored to fit each person’s specific goals and needs, and I provide a comfortable and safe space for people to express themselves and work through their therapeutic experience.

I am committed to educating and guiding individuals, couples and families in the following areas: discovering self-worth and self-forgiveness; working with people who struggle with issues involved with addictions, disordered eating and thinking; and resolving issues surrounding trauma and grief.
A good therapeutic relationship holds a high level of confidence, allowing people to share all sides of themselves; their hopes and fears, wants and needs, dreams and doubts, their strengths and vulnerabilities. Good therapy provides awareness and new perspectives, helping people to place less focus on where they are and more importance on the direction they are moving. My passion as a therapist, is to provide a space for individuals, couples and families to learn, heal and grow on their unique journeys towards transformation and personal freedom.

I have worked in mental health since 2011 with a wide range of people. I mostly help people who are experiencing the effects of stress, anxiety, depression, relationship issues, and trauma , among other things. My main goals when working with people are to really understand what they are going through from their perspective, and to create a collaborate atmosphere of exploration and growth. Simultaneously, we will find tools that work in the short term while working to understand underlying causes, and work towards long term change and benefit.

My experience includes: divorce and single-parenting, adjustment issues, grief and loss, trauma , women's issues, and mood disorders, among other challenges.
People come to counseling for different reasons. Some need assistance to change, changing habits or patterns that no longer serve them, shifting focus or reframing experience to feel good again. Some need to heal, from a past or recent trauma , who are dealing with grief or loss. Counseling can speed up the change and healing process. We all need someone to talk with who listens and can accept us as we are, without judgement, to explore ways to make changes that allow us to look forward to the future with hope.

Jayne started Blue Skies Counseling with the goal of helping women heal who have experienced trauma . Now, as four empathic, LGBTQIA+-allied feminist therapists, our expanded goal is to help you recognize and actively dismantle felt oppression and inequity on an individual basis, including supporting people who are questioning their faith, sexuality, and gender identity. We offer a client-centered, solution-focused approach through multicultural, humanistic, existential, and relational theories in a safe, warm environment. We also use EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), SE, and other modalities to help our clients heal.

I'm often told that I'm easy to talk to. I have had my own struggles and I know how scary it can feel to be so vulnerable and uncertain of who to trust. I'm honored to have worked with so many people over the years in the most dire of circumstances and to have witnessed them transform their experiences into a life of purpose. I have worked extensively with teens, families and women in crisis. I have worked with many people suffering from schizophrenia and other related disorders. This was an eye opening experience in understanding how the mind works.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
