Come see me if you want a kind, caring, professional with years of experience treating relational and sexual trauma . I get how difficult it is to find a therapist and how much courage it takes to reach out. You are not "crazy" and you are not alone! Let's work on ways to improve communication, heal anxiety, and increase a healthy sense of interdependence and connection with those you love. I treat attachment issues, ADHD, ASD, PTSD , Childhood Trauma , and act as a translator/coach in relationships where one person is Neurodiverse and the other is Neurotypical. My approach is warm, sincere, collaborative and non-judgmental.

My eclectic background has offered me the opportunity to work and live with individuals and family systems inclusive of all abilities and ages (people of all abilities, sudden/chronic illnesses, trauma ). I work with people who experience anxiety, depression, negative self-talk such as “I am powerless”, “I am worthless”, “I am unlovable”, and other intrusive repetitive thoughts. My individual sessions and group classes allow you to find stability during the highs and lows of daily life, with your family of choice and your community. I believe in living a balanced life that honors mind, body and spirit.

I am trained in EMDR, a mode of therapy recommended by the American Psychiatric Association for treatment of trauma , anxiety, and depression.
Do you ever feel broken or hopeless? I believe that emotional, psychological, and spiritual difficulties can yield personal growth and a "deep heart," as Dostoevsky puts it. We will explore and honor what it is to suffer, find ways to make meaning from it, and discover new paths to wholeness and healing.

A history of trauma , including the lack of fulfillment of emotional needs, is what interferes with our ability for successful, intimate relationships.
As a result of my own personal and professional exploration over the last 40+ years, I work most effectively with individuals who have not succeeded in establishing and sustaining nourishing, satisfying, intimate, committed, relationships in their lives. At this stage of my career, I am interested in working with individuals or couples who want to enhance their capacity for meaningful, intimate relationships.

often present when there has been developmental trauma .
Let me guess, you've been in therapy for years and nothing has helped much? You are not alone. Mental health treatment has failed clients who suffer from complex developmental trauma . This is the trauma that happened as a child and there was no escaping the day to day nightmare of not being kept safe. These clients do not benefit from traditional cognitive-behavioral treatment approaches and talk therapy. They likely have high levels of dissociation and a chronic sense of disconnection from themself and others. They have had to turn on themselves in order to survive the unimaginable. It is time to return home to yourself.

I can help you work through the effects of trauma , anxiety, depression, social issues and struggles with relationships to develop a new level of confidence and joy in life.
Life can often feel overwhelming with more struggle than joy. Relationships can break down due to poor communication and belief systems that no longer work. My strength is helping individuals, couples, and families identify and work through ineffective life patterns. Developing and restoring a sense of life purpose and inner strength can help discover new motivation to accomplish life goals. I am licensed in both CA & UT.

Anxiety, depression, or even intense stress can often get in the way of living the life we are meant to live. I begin by assisting you in gaining a sense of empowerment and clear plan to move toward or return to your true self. I provide space for you to break down self-destructive thought and behavioral patterns often caused by a history of trauma , abuse, or loss. You soon begin living your potential with improved body, mind, and soul connection. In couples therapy, I assist in healing the partnership by regaining connection and establishing shared meaning for more consistent positive interactions and fulfilling relationship.

I specialize in trauma resolution, mood disorders, and anxiety disorders.
I have a down-to-earth, non-judgmental approach to therapy. My hope is to put people at ease when they are working through issues that are deeply personal and difficult. I'm comfortable talking about sexuality, drug use, abuse, suicidal ideation, relationship issues, and conflicts with religion, etc. I like to help people increase awareness of themselves and others and to increase their ability to connect to what is important to them. I use EMDR, Sand Tray Therapy, and DBT to support clients connecting to their emotions, learning from experiences, and creating a life worth living.

Some issues have included depression, trauma and loss, pornography and marital difficulties as well as adolescent behavior concerns.
One of the most important things we need in our own lives is balance. This is often difficult to achieve with life's constant demands on our time and energy. Without balance, life becomes wearisome and at times, unmanageable. We begin to wonder if there is meaning in our lives or even if it's "worth the trouble." In the effort to find relief or comfort, we may find ourselves drawn to self-defeating and even destructive behaviors that offer immediate yet temporary relief. There are other options, a different perspective may help. I offer just this to my clients.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
