I enjoy working with adults who are dealing with the after-effects of chronic trauma throughout childhood. This can mean high levels of emotional reactivity, intrusive memories of difficult past events, and difficulties in obtaining and maintaining important interpersonal relationships. My ideal client is looking for ways to feel safe and secure in the world and to, as Dr. Marsha Linehan would say, "build a life worth living." I also feel confident working with clients experiencing depression , anxiety and other interpersonal issues.

I help individuals with stress, worry, anxiety, depression , and all kinds of emotional and life problems. If you're experiencing emotional distress, you know it can affect your peace of mind, relationships, work life and more. Consulting with a trained counselor is a great way to discuss sensitive issues with an impartial person. Counseling can be helpful in many ways; to solve a specific problem, make a decision, change behaviors, get support during a tough time, gain awareness, etc. Therapy is a unique relationship geared toward your needs, emotional health, and personal growth.

I am trained in EMDR, a mode of therapy recommended by the American Psychiatric Association for treatment of trauma, anxiety, and depression .
Do you ever feel broken or hopeless? I believe that emotional, psychological, and spiritual difficulties can yield personal growth and a "deep heart," as Dostoevsky puts it. We will explore and honor what it is to suffer, find ways to make meaning from it, and discover new paths to wholeness and healing.

My approach to therapy is empathic, collaborative, and unique to each individual's own needs. I believe the most important component of effective counseling is a genuine relational connection. I strive to create a therapeutic environment in which clients feel comfortable, respected, supported, and understood so that they may actively explore personal issues and experiment with new ways of thinking and behaving. Too often we spend our lives living either in the past or in the future, and consequently struggling with feelings of depression or anxiety.

I specialize in anxiety, depression , developmental and spiritual transitions.
As a holistic psychotherapist, I maintain a "mind-body-environment" perspective to understand how mental, emotional, physical and spiritual health are interconnected and interrelated to our relationships with others, the environment (nature-culture) and ourselves. I recognize that when those elements are imbalanced, it creates symptoms that can lead to suffering. Anxiety and depression , among other mind-body symptoms, are both cause and effect of this imbalance. They are also the cause of feeling stagnant in life, another root of suffering. Therefore, I hope to work with my patients to create balance and find flow in their life.

I started private practice at the beginning of the pandemic to specifically focus on anxiety and depression and how it manifests in the body.
BREATHE. CONNECT. TRUST. I arrived at this mantra when I thought about what I could "gift" to a client to carry with them on a daily basis. BREATHE: take 3 deep breaths and consider what you need to do at this moment - CONNECT: Reach out- to a close family member or friend or therapist and share your feelings TRUST: trust the process- you are feeling this and sharing these feelings for a reason, trust yourself.

Depression Therapists
Depressive disorders are characterized by persistent feelings of sadness and worthlessness and a lack of desire to engage in formerly pleasurable activities. Depression is not a passing blue mood, which almost everyone experiences from time to time, but a complex mind/body illness that interferes with everyday functioning. It not only darkens one's outlook, it is commonly marked by sleep problems and changes in energy levels and appetite. It alters the structure and function of nerve cells so that it disrupts the way the brain processes information and interprets experience.

Despite feelings of hopelessness and worthlessness, depression is a treatable condition. It can be treated with psychotherapy. As with many illnesses, the earlier treatment begins, the more effective it can be and the greater the likelihood that recurrence can be prevented.

Psychotherapy addresses the thinking patterns that precipitate depression, and studies show that it prevents recurrence. Drug therapy is often helpful in relieving symptoms, such as severe anxiety, so that people can engage in meaningful psychotherapy.
