I have a specific interest working with complex and developmental trauma and to explore the impact trauma has on intimacy and trust in relationships.
Life transitions are an unavoidable part of the human experience though we need not stop living a valued life during changing life circumstances. I believe every individual holds the strength, intuition and ability to heal from suffering. I work to help client's identify and tap into their power and confidence to live a rich and balanced life where past experiences do not define or diminish self worth. I work collaboratively with clients to set up and work toward living a desired life and a regained sense of control even in the face of trauma and pain.

My therapy style is based on three principles: Awareness, Discovery, and Integration. I approach my clients holistically. My intention is to explore their troubles without judgment or a specific agenda. I believe that the problem always contains the seeds of its own resolution, and I trust my clients to know what is ultimately best for them. My clients do well in therapy when they practice curiosity, patience, and friendliness towards their own troubles. Over the years I have tended to focus on mood disorders, anxiety disorders, addictions, trauma , and relationship issues.

My work focuses on healing from trauma , relationship issues, life and belief transitions, anxiety, depression and grief.
Life doesn’t always go according to plan. And, sometimes there isn’t a plan, or it’s someone else’s plan, or the plan simply isn’t working. I offer a compassionate space where you can feel safe and supported as we explore the unexpected or ongoing turbulence your life. My trauma -informed approach to counseling is centered on building a trust-based collaboration that will support you as you begin to experience meaningful change. We’ll rely on a process of discovery to determine which counseling approach, or combination of approaches, will fit best for you. Together we’ll uncover your unique path to the life you want to live.

I have both personal and professional experience related to depression, anxiety, complex trauma , addiction, and life transitions. I feel that it is vital to understand how our past experiences impact our present way of functioning. I value supporting clients in increasing the awareness of their thoughts, emotions + what is happening within their bodies - as a way to honor these sensations and metabolize their distress.

You or your child may be having difficulty moving through life due to a traumatic event or crisis. I offer trauma -informed services to help discover and heal the negative self-beliefs and attachment issues that hold people back from fully enjoying life. Young children may not always be able to verbalize their reactions to life events, but their behavior can show how they feel. Working closely with parents, I use play therapy to assist children with processing their feelings and making sense of their world. I also use EMDR therapy to help you unlock your own healing potential.

I have over 20 years of experience working with issues around trauma , diversity, and fostering depth in life.
My practice is about creating and enhancing a meaningful life. Through a belief that our disturbances--about ourselves, others or life in general - lead us to the doorway of toward wholeness, we work together to unfold the seed of the solution from within the problems. Thus, I approach each client with a desire to follow and facilitate their unique healing process. Through deep compassion toward self, dreamwork and process work, I identify lesser conscious aspects of one's self, which we work together to bring into awareness. With this awareness one can find more meaning and a stronger purpose in life.

What if you could learn to love yourself despite physical insecurities? What if you could work through trauma , anxiety, and depression to find that you actually do like yourself? What if you could find love for yourself despite having experienced a suicide attempt or suicidal thoughts? .
Our society is constantly shifting, how we interact with one another has changed, and the things we considered “true” may be crumbling. Yes, teens and young adults are the future but what if they (you) are scared and are struggling to figure out how you fit in, and question if they even want to. Trauma , anxiety, and depression can make this discovery a daunting task. Maybe you or your teen are overwhelmed and don’t know where to start, staying in bed may sound like the best and sometimes the only option. Maybe you don’t even like yourself let alone love yourself.

I have experience working with anxiety, depression, substance abuse, trauma , grief and loss, family conflict and self-esteem issues.
Being a young person in today's world can be tough! Determining who you are and where you fit in is a huge task, especially while navigating relationships with family, ups and downs with friends and peers, and the pressures that come from school and society. It might feel like you can’t face it on your own, but having the right person to help steer you through your everyday experiences, thoughts, feelings, and challenges can make a big difference. That’s where I come in!

Trauma Informed Equine Assisted Psychotherapy Offered in Salt Lake City.
I strongly believe that the foundation to healing happens through acquiring the ability to become grounded and centered. This is key in our getting on the other side of our anxiety, shame, depression, or whatever our personal struggles may be. I am certified in EMDR and find the approach effective as it allows the element of choice and the availability of insight not often found in traditional therapeutic approaches. I am a strong believer in the client therapist relationship as being key to success in therapy. With my clients, I incorporate an emphasis on building on our personal strengths while working through our personal struggles.

Life sometimes can feel overwhelming. We can find ourselves wondering how we got to where we are and feel disconnected from the people around us and ourselves. There are many messages of how we should be, look, and act that we constantly feel like we are failing. The good news is that you don’t always have to feel overwhelmed, disconnected, or like a failure. There is a way to feel confident, peaceful, and feel good about who you are.

I use a blend of mindfulness-based, attachment based, integrative and trauma -informed therapy modalities.
You are enough, you are worthy and I already know you are brave because you are here. Healing is possible. You are not meant to heal alone. Together we will create space for you to feel safe and supported, so you can reconnect with your truest self. The real you, the vibrant you, that is still there, alive and well, under any chaos or pain. I have spent 14 years supporting others through their darkest times, through trauma , loss, grief, and struggles with belonging. The path of the human experience can lead to a variety of complicated and sometimes difficult emotions.

Since 2006 I have been working in the field of trauma treatment, and in 2013 I became licensed as a Clinical Mental Health Counselor in the state of Utah.
As a trauma specialist, I work with my clients to heal the impact of distressing experiences. Trauma is much more common than most of us would like to believe. If you find that you often feel anxious, overwhelmed, or disconnected you may be living with the impact of traumatic experiences. Together we will get to know your brain and nervous system, and find ways to manage these symptoms more effectively while we simultaneously work to better understand the experiences that caused them.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a psychological reaction that occurs after an extremely stressful event, such as physical violence or military combat. Those suffering from PTSD have recurring memories of the stressful event and are anxious or scared even in the absence of danger. Flashbacks and nightmares are common symptoms as well.
