Walking through the therapy door to spill your guts to a stranger can be terrifying! I've been there, this is why I use a humanistic and strengths-based approach as a therapist. I know that safety and connection are vital to healing and growing so I work at the pace my clients lead. I support you in connecting mind and body, living your authentic self, and creating meaningful connections with others. Whether you are dealing with difficult circumstances, emotions, dark thoughts or relationships, I know you are innately good and I try to see the whole you. Trauma-informed methods are key to restore you to optimal functioning.

Hi, I’m Pam. One of my favorite quotes is, “We can’t read the label from inside the bottle.” It reminds me that sometimes we need a fresh perspective to uncover our own strength and potential. Originally from Brazil, I’ve called this place home for 20 years. Life has a way of preparing us in unexpected ways, and I believe my personal and professional experiences have shaped me into the therapist I am today. Therapy can provide that space—a safe, compassionate environment to explore, heal, and grow.

In my mind, the ideal client is someone who has recognized that some aspect of their life is no longer working and is ready to take steps to restore balance. This person is seeking help to get their life back on track. I enjoy working with a variety of clients, including individuals, couples, and families. The people who seek counseling to validate that change is necessary, and who desire professional guidance to collaborate in identifying their natural strengths (or at least their potential capabilities) to overcome difficulties, tend to be goal-oriented. My hope is that my warm and inviting office atmosphere, and a safe space.

If you are feeling stressed, anxious, depressed, emotionally distant, or carrying the weight of past trauma, you’re not alone. Many teenagers, adults, and couples struggle with communication, intimacy, trust, or connection with partners, family, or coworkers, feeling exhausted and isolated. In therapy, I work with clients to manage stress, gently heal trauma, explore attachment patterns, and improve communication. A compassionate, supportive therapeutic approach can help manage anxiety, depression, trauma, and other mental health challenges while fostering more secure, fulfilling and emotionally connected relationships.

I have nearly 47 years experience in many different settings working with children, adolescents, young adults, adults, couples, and families. I enjoy working with all people and believe each person has taught me that all people have unique genetic and environmental backgrounds. I have been trained in many different treatment/therapy modalities. No single modality is capable of treating all people. While there are some general "norms", each person has many unique biological and social influences that are constantly changing and individually being interpreted resulting in different normalities for each person.

Many of us feel trapped in our anxiety, depression, obsessions or just our circumstances. Often our past traumas, our habits, or our beliefs seem heavy and impossible to change. Learning to free ourselves from dysfunctional thoughts and behaviors can feel overwhelming to do on our own. I tend to take a therapeutic approach that is tailored to each person, but the goal is always similar: We work to clarify what kind of lifestyle and belief system works best for you, and then strive to live in alignment through more authentic behavioral and thinking patterns. Call or text the number listed :)

I believe clients hold their own internal answers, though a therapeutic alliance is often needed to unlock them. As a trauma-informed therapist, I see how adverse childhood experiences create deep-seeded belief systems and a dysregulated nervous system. This survival mode makes life feel chaotic and unmanageable, leading to addiction and unhealthy coping mechanisms. I build trust through radical transparency and accountability, being upfront that reaching a regulated life requires immense hard work and commitment. I provide a steady, non-judgmental presence, helping clients navigate these roots to empower ever lasting change.

I am the best fit for a family who has children between the ages from birth to 24 years old. I offer support to families who are struggling with challenging behaviors from their children and adolescents in home or at school. I offer a unique systemic approach that includes parents in the treatment process that is not found in many other practices. This systemic approach is extremely affective and helps keep parents in the loop and helps families complete the treatment goal faster than other approaches. As I believe therapy for children should be brief and solution focused so they can get back to being a kid.

Connecting with your children can be so challenging even on the best days. As a parent you are juggling multiple schedules, emotional needs, and responsibilities that it can feel almost impossible to be present with your child, which can cause them to struggle. A child can feel shame, not good enough and show it through disrespect, being off task, and having tantrums. The guilt of not being able to or know how to connect can be so overwhelming that you don't know how to help your child feel worthy. The good news is, connection is possible even when responsibilities are demanding.

Oppositional Defiance (ODD) Therapists
What is the most effective treatment for oppositional defiant disorder?
The treatment of Oppositional defiant disorder (ODD) will involve multiple approaches designed to help both the youngster and their parents, sometimes including medication. A therapist will help a child learn ways to regulate their emotions, curb their impulsiveness, and counteract anger, defiance, and disruption, while showing parents ways to bring these lessons into their home. A technique designed for children with conditions like ODD, known as Collaborative and Proactive Solutions (CPS), may also be used. CPS addresses a child’s concerns and rewards appropriate responses while discouraging harsh punishment or criticism.

How does treatment for oppositional defiant disorder work?
Treatment for ODD addresses the issues underlying a child’s defiance and disruption, the emotional regulation and impulse-control skills they lack, and the way adults respond to them. ODD therapy is based on the idea that children with the disorder understand the difference between right and wrong, that they want to behave well, and that, with help, they can. By responding to the child with empathy instead of harsh criticism, ignoring nonviolent behaviors, and rewarding positive actions, a therapist, and the other adults in a child’s life, can help children improve their behavior.

How long does therapy for oppositional defiant disorder take?
Therapy for oppositional defiant disorder is not a short-term undertaking. Depending on the severity of a child’s symptoms, their age, the presence of other conditions like ADHD, anxiety or a mood disorder, and their family dynamic, it can take months before improvement is noted. The cooperation of parents and teachers is crucial, because the skills learned in therapy must be practiced in real-world situations, with all their potential triggers.

Does oppositional defiant disorder go away?
ODD can remit following treatment. ODD is often diagnosed in nursery school, and early intervention is essential for a positive prognosis. In two-thirds of children, according to the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, symptoms resolve within three years.
