I believe there is a space for everyone in therapy. No matter what challenge you are facing, you have a place in counseling. I am a supporter of awareness, acceptance, and different perceptions. There is much power in those tools and understanding them. Bring who you are to therapy, and I will help in every way possible to get you to a place of healing, self-love, and the discovery of the power of mental health. There is something to be said about struggle and what it does to a person, what it makes a person. With the correct tools, struggle does not have to define you.

Life is hard. It becomes even more challenging when we have faced experiences that exceeded our ability to cope in the moment. This is what we call trauma, and it can shape how we see ourselves, our relationships, and the world around us.
Therapy offers a way forward.

One of my personal mottos is “I am still learning” and I use the same perspective with clients as we work to address your needs in therapy together. Through the therapeutic process, I hope to empower you with greater understanding and compassion for yourself and what you are learning from your experiences and choices in order to break patterns of reacting to yourself through the shame and belittling reaction of the inner critic. I believe anyone can grow and make change with willingness and effort. I love helping clients gain greater insight into thought, feeling and behavior patterns that you are ready to let go.

Maybe prayer once brought you peace, but now it brings doubt. You finish praying and immediately wonder if you did it right. You replay the words in your head, searching for mistakes. Did you mean it sincerely enough? Did you miss something? What if you’ve sinned? So you pray again. And again. It feels endless. The more you chase certainty, the less certain you become. Many people with scrupulosity OCD confess the same things repeatedly, always searching for forgiveness. In the hardest moments, you may even choose to avoid the very faith practices that once grounded you.

Overthinking, stress, or life transitions can leave you feeling drained and stuck. You don’t have to keep carrying it all on your own. Therapy can help you slow things down, clear the noise, and start feeling more steady again.

Life can be beautiful, yet it can be intensely unbearable. Therapy has been what I’ve sought when I’ve been stuck in cycles of crippling anxiety and depression. I’ve also found healing in connecting with people. I’ve grown sensitive to topics people face on the daily. A few themes I’ve seen closely include anxiety, depression, suicide, unique challenges among LGBTQ+ individuals and their families, and faith journeys and crises. In therapy, you author the life you want to create. I assist you in taking small steps so that you can climb the peaks that bring you meaning and peace.

Gottman Method Therapists
How does the Gottman method work?
One of the core doctrines of the Gottman method is that negative emotions hurt relationships about five times more than positive emotions help them. Thus, couples require five times more positive interactions than negative interactions with each other. The therapist will guide clients on how to improve communication and understanding of each other to manage conflict and have their emotional needs met. The therapist will also advise couples on how to repair relations with each other when conflict arises, and therefore avoid lasting damage.
Is the Gottman method evidence-based?
Yes, this method is an evidence-based approach to couples therapy. The method is based on more than 40 years of research by Drs. John and Julie Gottman, the psychologists who developed the method. The Gottmans analyzed decades of data to draw conclusions about what types of interactions are likely to lead to specific results, and which interventions are most likely to lead to success. Studies have found that this approach leads to improvements in relationship satisfaction, intimacy, communication skills, and a lower rate of divorce.
How long does the Gottman method take?
The duration of treatment depends on the specific challenges clients face. Sessions are typically 60 to 90 minutes long, and an average course of treatment is around 10 sessions. In some cases, such as for couples dealing with a critical problem, the therapist will suggest an intensive course of treatment, with daily sessions over the first two to four days. Treatment is complete when the couple is satisfied and has met the goals they’ve set, and when the therapist believes they have the skills to continue on their own.
Is the Gottman method effective?
Through the Gottman method, couples can achieve changes that are real and sustainable. This treatment has been used for more than 40 years; the method is supported by empirical research, including randomized controlled trials that have demonstrated effectiveness in improving relationship outcomes for couples. Like any talk therapy, success or failure depends in large part on how committed the clients are to making positive changes and working toward results.
