As a therapist, I love working with individuals struggling with the healing from trauma or just the negative beliefs and self perception of themselves. I am passionate about helping others feel empowered, find their inner strength, and navigate towards a life of peace and self-love. Therapy is a space where a person should feel safe and understood; a judgement-free zone and I promise, you will have that with me. Having had my own struggles and working through them, I am confident I can help you with yours.

I believe our relationships matter more than anything else in life. For you, this may (or may not) include relationships with family, friends, and those in your community. These kinds of meaningful connections are imperative to our happiness and well-being. The key? Thriving relationships require a healthy relationship with yourself. With compassion, kindness, and a hint of humor, I can guide you in building a better understanding of the unique person you are, help you identify what you want and need, teach you skills and strategies for success, and support you in personal transformation.

Life is full of seasons - and some of the hardest come in the middle of our story. Whether you're navigating changing roles in your marriage, parenting adult or teen children, facing unexpected transitions, or carrying the weight of anxiety, depression, or trauma, it can feel overwhelming and isolating. You may be doing your best, yet still feel stuck, exhausted, or unsure of who you are becoming.

Golden Horse Counseling exists because so many of us feel disconnected—from our bodies, our emotions, even our own stories—and don’t know why. As an EMDR Consultant and lifelong learner, I continually deepen my expertise so I can meet each client and fellow therapists exactly where they are. I draw on advanced training in EMDR, Structural dissociation, Deep Brain Reorienting, & Equine‑Assisted EMDR to inform every session. Here, we don’t “fix” problems; we open a safe, supportive space to explore, integrate, and transform. Together, you’ll rewrite your narrative, take hold of the reins, and gallop confidently into the next chapter.

My name is Chase. I see individuals and couples, adolescents and adults, who are experiencing behavioral, emotional, relationship and existential challenges. I draw on various sources of wisdom, historical and contemporary, Eastern and Western, to assist in overcoming such challenges as sexual misbehavior, or other compulsive behaviors, nihilism, depression, social anxiety, perfectionism, relationship discord, and personality disorders. I work especially well with those who feel misunderstood by or need something different from what is offered by typical approaches.

Divorce Therapists
How does therapy for people affected by a divorce work?
Individuals may feel a number of emotions following a divorce, such as shock, guilt, grief, anger, and fear. Therapists offer a non-judgmental space for individuals to talk about what they’ve experienced and process their emotions. Therapists will help clients develop coping strategies. They can also help a client rebuild their sense of self and self-worth and talk about what a happier future might look like.

What’s the most common type of therapy following a divorce?
There are several types of therapy that may be useful for divorce, including cognitive behavioral, acceptance and commitment, solution-focused brief, and mindfulness-based therapies. Many therapy types are talk-therapy based, which is typically the most popular option for individuals dealing with divorce. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a widely-used talk therapy, however, there’s no specific therapy type that’s designed to help people with divorce, and different types will work depending on the person.

When should an individual seek help due to a divorce?
When the feelings of a divorced individual, or an individual going through the process of divorce, begin to disrupt healthy daily functioning, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If a person finds that they are not performing at work due to problems with anxiety or motivation, if they’re no longer seeing friends due to feelings of shame, or if they’re not properly taking care of themselves as a result of depression, speaking to a professional could help.

How do you encourage someone to go to therapy due to a divorce?
It’s helpful to express concern and love for the individual while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Sharing how the individual appears to be suffering, and what effects it has on them or on their children, should be done with compassion and empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
