My ideal client is someone who’s been carrying a lot for a long time and is ready for relief and real change. They might be struggling with anxiety, depression, ADHD/executive functioning challenges, trauma, identity exploration, or relationship stress. Many feel overwhelmed, emotionally drained, stuck in patterns they don’t fully understand, or like they’ve had to stay “strong” for everyone else. They want a space where they can be fully themselves without judgment, while also gaining clarity, stability, and practical tools.

Clients who come in ready to work on themselves are leaps and bounds ahead of clients who might be dragging their feet in coming to therapy. If you are ready to change and personally motivated, your progress will be quick and you will get a lot out of the therapeutic process. Brief, solution focused therapy is often the most helpful depending on the client, but my intention is always to start where each individual client is at and work to assist them in their goals and desires for change based on their own strengths.

I’m experienced with complex grief and bereavement, PTSD, LGBTQ, chronic health and pain related depression.
I’ve had people say they’ve tried therapy before and had a bad experience. Or they were raised to just “get over it”. Some of us wait too long to get the support we need until we hit the wall. Regardless of the life you began or where you are now if you are often paralyzed by the past, future or present and struggling to feel and live with some sense of peace and happiness I encourage you to to reach out and give yourself a break.

Therapy can be hard. I like to inject as much compassion, humor, and happiness as I can into the therapeutic process as we resolve many of life's challenges. I am an expert therapist with over 15 years of experience. I specializes in trauma, all addictions, PTSD, anxiety, sex therapy, couples and marriage counseling, parent counseling, ADHD, Spirituality, and Careers; but I can also be of service in many other areas. Goals are set by my clients. I am happy to offer feedback if asked; but you are in the driver seat. I may question you at times in an effort to facilitate greater understanding; but I will never tell someone what to do.

Chronic Pain Therapists
How does chronic pain therapy work?
Engaging with a psychotherapist to help treat chronic pain does not mean that one’s pain is all in their head. Therapy for chronic-pain patients has been shown to benefit both the mind and the body, targeting physical symptoms and increasing daily functioning. In other words, for many, addressing their emotional health through therapy affects their physical health. A therapist can help a client challenge unhelpful thoughts about pain and develop new ways to respond to it, such as distraction or calming breathing techniques. Studies have found that therapy can be as effective as surgery for certain cases of chronic pain and many doctors recommend trying psychotherapy in advance of considering invasive surgery.
What are the most effective treatment options for chronic pain?
Stress, anxiety, depression, catastrophizing, ruminating, lack of activity, and social withdrawal all make chronic pain worse. Addressing these issues, research shows, can help people gain control over their pain symptoms. Therapeutic approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy, biofeedback, and mindfulness-based stress reduction, along with greater pain-management education, have been found to help people reduce fear and disability.
Are there new treatments for chronic pain?
Many cases of chronic pain, particularly those involving back pain, remain medically unexplained. But there is evidence that changes in the brain or nervous system are caused by previous physical ailments such as tissue damage; in such cases, the brain may continue to send out pain signals despite the physical cause having healed. To aid patients under these circumstances, a recently developed treatment known as pain reprocessing therapy (PRT) is designed to help the brain “unlearn” this response. A PRT practitioner helps individuals to reduce the “threat value” of their ongoing pain signals until they can reappraise them as less threatening and fear-inducing. They also help an individual to develop new emotional regulation skills.
How long does therapy for chronic pain take?
There is no set timeline for recovery from chronic pain, especially as there may be a range of physical and psychological causes for any individual’s discomfort, but most patients should expect to see a therapist for a number of weeks or months, typically spanning at least 12 sessions. Studies of pain reprocessing therapy found that many individuals’ experience of pain lessened in eight sessions over four weeks.
