Other things that bring me joy are my family , sports, spirituality, gardening, music, theater, literature, and technology.
I am accepting new clients and offer Online Counseling via Telehealth. I've provided over 10,000 hours of therapy and like Confucius said, "Choose a job you love, and you will never work a day in your life." I managed LDS Family Services for 13 years and loved directing the 12-step Addiction Recovery Program in Michigan, New York and Pennsylvania. I've been recruited by multiple residential treatment centers, a hospital, a skilled nursing facility, and by an IOP program assessing and treating substance abuse and domestic violence.

You may feel alone but you don't have to be! If you have found that you, your relationships, or your family could use a helping hand, please reach out and we can work together to find relief, solutions, and peace.
Finding a therapist you connect with can make all the difference in your progress in therapy.  I have found having good rapport with my clients, connecting on things outside of therapy, helps us work towards your goals.  I pull from my love of reading, philosophy, neuroscience, and well timed humor to help drive a point home. Whether it is diffucult struggles, life transitions, mental health battles, existential turmoil, or goal setting, I'm here for you and your loved ones. I genuinely consider it my life's work.

You made a mistake this morning. It was small, but you can’t get it out of your head. You keep thinking about it. You feel like your thoughts are a runaway train and you can’t stop them. You try to consider what you could have done differently, and yet it’s in the past. You start to question other choices you’ve made. Are you making the right call? Doubt creeps in. You find it hard to concentrate on your family or partner, your job, or schoolwork. Your mind hurts, your stomach hurts, body hurts. You feel exhausted; it's only been an hour.

I call on my training in marriage and family therapy , parenting, the treatment of depression, and trauma treatment to help women heal and begin moving forward in a healthier manner.
As a woman, you travel a unique path through this life. Sometimes you experience obstacles and pain along the way. Your relationships are so important to you, but you may not always know the best way to deal with your spouse, your children, your own parents, etc. Sometimes you don't know who to talk to about your struggles. You may face depression, grief, or continue to deal with trauma from your past that still crops up in your current relationships. You long for healing and peace of mind.

Therapy is tailored to your specific goals and needs with: deepening relational connection, anxiety, addictions, grief/loss, faith transition, emotional challenges, and family therapy . Creating a validating and respectful therapeutic experience is central to inviting growth and change.

If you are looking for Couples/ Family Therapy , I can help your relationship discover harmony, trust, teamwork, and feelings of closeness.
I can help you work towards the real issue right away and help you start feeling better from the first session. First thing I want to say is that I am so sorry your heart is feeling a consistent pain...This pain is very important to me and I am here for you. We can make it. A broken heart is the root of most individual and relationship problems. The brains job is to reduce pain and numb the heart. I believe that you can learn all the coping skills in the world, however, if your heart is broken, those skills usually will not work. Once the heart feels soothed and understood then the mind may accept new solutions and skills.

Relationships are hard, and anxiety surrounding them is SO normal. Our connections with others - whether with a partner, spouse, parent, child(ren), or other loved one - can be a source of some of our greatest difficulties. As a therapist who specializes in working with couples and families, you can expect my approach to be catered to your individual family or relationship needs while having the assurance that my methods are backed by research and practices that help. I firmly believe that these hardships aren't permanent and that with some intentional effort, vulnerability, and better skills, they can be a source of joy.

Many of these extreme emotions are interrelated to either current or past family relationships.
I see individuals that desire and are willing to work at creating better relationships and lives. Sometimes we may feel stuck; unable to control our emotions and thought processes. I bring hope and tools to help provide healing and growth. We get a clear picture and understanding of what we want the outcome of therapy to be. We come up with priorities to work on and then experience interventions that create awareness, understanding, skills, hope and motivation to do what works! We then do our homework. We continue in this process, making any adjustments, till we achieve our "healthier life"!

We have a great family of therapists in our group who also focus on individual, couples, and family issues, mood disorders, addictive behaviors, and chronic pain and illness.
Healing Pathways Therapy Center provides a safe nurturing environment for adults, adolescents, and children to focus on relationship, well-being and mental health issues. We focus on topics such as life adjustment, depression, anxiety, relationship and family issues, divorce, phobias, trauma, addictions, etc. We specialize in trauma and childhood attachment issues, working to resolve big or little traumas or negative experiences which tend to impede emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual growth. We focus on healing rather than just coping, by finding resolving underlaying issue rather than just putting a band-aid on symptoms.

I received my master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Brigham Young University in 2019 and am currently working on my PhD specializing in emotional abuse and neglect.
We all experience difficult times in life, and we all need connection through relationships. I believe therapy is one avenue to process and explore painful situations while working on improving relationships with partners, parents, children, etc. Our experiences impact how we communicate and perceive others’ messages.

With this is in mind, I believe the family is the key to true healing.
I have worked with many populations including adolescents, children, homeless, couples, families and individuals. I have lived in the South Pacific including Hawaii and Tonga. I have also lived in California , Arizona, Washington and I currently live in Provo Utah. I have worked with a wide number of different cultures and people of different beliefs. I adhere to a humanistic model of Psychotherapy in that no one person is the same and everyone deserves to be treated with empathy. I focus on each individual's potential and stress of growth and self-actualization.

As a mother/foster mother of seven with a marriage of nearly 40 years, I bring a wealth of experience with family challenges and the realities of what happens in families.
Many people feel unhappy and disconnected from themselves and the people they love. If you are wondering if there is anything you can do to strengthen yourself and your relationships, there are answers. New coping skills can help you see yourself and your relationships differently, new brain techniques can help resolve old traumas, and current research can bring understanding. It's never too late to look at your life differently and change what's happening in your world.

Balancing independence and connection for individuals and family is one of my main goals in therapy.
Each of us have beliefs and experiences that impact our ability to form meaningful relationships, accomplish goals, or accept ourselves. My hope is to help the individuals, couples and families I work with challenge these negative beliefs and guide them in using skills to develop a stronger sense of self and more stable relationships.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
