I use Motivational Interviewing, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Experiential, Mindfulness, Solution Focused, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
I am accepting new clients and offer Online Counseling via Telehealth. I've provided over 10,000 hours of therapy and like Confucius said, "Choose a job you love, and you will never work a day in your life." I managed LDS Family Services for 13 years and loved directing the 12-step Addiction Recovery Program in Michigan, New York and Pennsylvania. I've been recruited by multiple residential treatment centers, a hospital, a skilled nursing facility, and by an IOP program assessing and treating substance abuse and domestic violence.

Therapy often starts with relearning and practicing trust and acceptance.
I like to come at therapy kind of like I would a drummer at a jam session. I'm there to find a groove with another voice. I want to communicate with you and help you to open up and learn to express yourself. We will seek understanding first and then we will find a way to encourage healing and growth that is unique to you and builds a stronger identity. I am strengths-based and I like to find existing skills to help a client build a new way of thinking and interacting with their body. This is also a very effective way of beginning the process of healing symptoms of PTSD in conjunction with other evidence based trauma treatments.

I try to incorporate principles from different therapy techniques such as CBT, ACT, EMDR, DBT, and mindfulness to best meet the needs of clients.
Do you need a place to share your story? It's one thing to sit and think about your struggles alone, but when you begin to share them out loud, your story begins to shift outside of you. You can begin to find healing within yourself. There is power in sharing and I am passionate about creating a safe space where you feel safe and supported to do just that. I see your strengths and believe in working collaboratively in therapy. You are the expert in your own life and together we can help you find the confidence to embrace your next steps to change.

I love helping adults, children, teens, and their parents successfully navigate life’s challenges. My primary focus is on creating a safe space for people to process their struggles and discover and build on their strengths. I believe that people have what they need to thrive inside of them and my purpose is to help them access that through talk and play. I am familiar with and trained in using Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

I use various modalities such as EMDR, CBT, ACT and DBT and work to find the modality that best suites the needs of those I'm helping.
I believe that despite life’s challenges, and often because of them, every individual has their own unique capabilities and strengths. Every individual has worth and purpose. Our own misperceptions or difficult life circumstances can sometimes mask these truths, but I seek to help my clients remember and internalize them. Hope and healing can be found by drawing on the strengths within!

Life can definitely throw us unexpected challenges. Whether you are suffering with depression, anxiety, trauma, addictions or difficulty adjusting to other life challenges perhaps I can help. I treat my clients as "unique individuals" not as "a diagnosis." My intent is to help you heal so you may "thrive" not just "survive."

We also offer cognitive behavioral therapy, EMDR, and ACT.
Most people would rather hide from change than embrace it. When we do, unseen opportunities aren’t realized. We encourage our clients to focus on positive change- more on strengths than on weaknesses, the solution instead of the problem.

I have extensive experience working with women who have experienced domestic violence and abuse. From this experience, I know the importance of being able to tell your own story, rather than being told how to feel or think. This is why I focus on creating a space for my clients to be able to explore their stories, and discover their strengths. I use EMDR, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) as my main methods. These methods enable me to honor my clients’ experiences while being able to guide them out of the unhelpful or unwanted ways they view themselves and life.

I use a variety of therapies including EMDR, CBT, ACT, and IFS.
I believe that we all have a deep well of wisdom within us, and my role as a therapist is to be a guide to help you tap into yours. I choose to focus on your strengths, to help you see them, and to use a collaborative approach as we work together on a journey of healing and growth. I specialize in maternal mental health, infertility, trauma, bereavement, and relationship struggles. In my prior work as a doula, I found great passion in supporting families and now continue doing so by focusing on mental health during pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and beyond.

I prefer a person-centered approach and utilize components of ACT.
My ideal client is willing to talk about and feel their feelings and the way they affect their lives. Not all of my clients can talk about their feelings quite yet, or even identify them. That’s okay. Some are absolutely terrified to acknowledge or address feelings, and that’s okay too. It’s only when clients are unwilling that I personally run into a wall with my work.

I use a variety of modalities to best fit your needs which include ACT, EMDR, and CBT and approach treatment through a trauma, strengths-based lens.
Do you need a place to give voice to your emotions and thoughts? Do you need new tools for coping with your emotions? Do you want to take action to change your life? There is freedom that comes when we talk about our problems and learn skills to change them. I am passionate about the power therapy can have in people's lives. We can all work towards growth and healing and I would love to do that together.

In therapy I use a combination of different therapeutic modalities such as EMDR, ACT, CBT, and DBT to best meet the needs of those I work with.
Do you feel weighed down by the expectations of perfectionism? Does anxiety keep you from doing the things you want? I believe that everyone deserves and has the power to create a joyful and meaningful life. My ultimate goal as I work with you is to help you reflect on the past, embrace the present, and find hope, joy, and excitement for the future. I have spent several years researching and writing about perfectionism. This topic has become a passion of mine and is something I focus on in my work with individuals.

Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Therapists

How does acceptance and commitment therapy work?

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy encourages a person to listen to their self-talk. A person’s inner dialog can be indicative of how they treat themselves. ACT also encourages self-compassion; this can lead to a better understanding of negative thought patterns and emotional states. This understanding can then lead the individual to needed behavior change.

What are the goals of acceptance and commitment therapy?

The goal of acceptance and commitment is to expand a person’s psychological flexibility, a trait that encourages an individual to live in the present moment and to accept all their thoughts, feelings, and emotions, even ones that are difficult such as sadness and anxiety. In ACT, this acceptance is congruent with the individual’s values and beliefs.

Does acceptance and commitment therapy work for depression?

Acceptance and commitment therapy is effective for depression because it allows the individual to view their discomfort and suffering differently. Depressive feelings about relationship heartaches, for example, are a part of life. A despondent person learns to let go of their struggles and instead view their painful thoughts and feelings with compassion. This will lead the individual toward positive change.

How long are people typically in acceptance and commitment therapy?

A typical acceptance and commitment therapy session is 50 minutes long with one session per week. Treatment for common problems such as anxiety, depression, or relationship difficulties can last between eight weeks to four months. However, more severe cases may require more than one session a week and/or a longer time frame for treatment.
