Life is hard. Three simple words that are at the root of why people seek out therapists. I believe that the vast majority of people are doing the best they can in life. When our thoughts, words and actions aren’t in sync with our values or expectations of ourselves, that can lead to depression, anxiety and other distressing emotions. Sometimes we find ourselves in deep distress due to the actions of others. I find great joy in helping others sort through that complex tangle of emotions, thoughts and behaviors in order to come to a resolution–to figure out how to move forward in a manner that brings them peace.

I believe in working with individuals to achieve a positive sense of self, happiness and figuring out the next right thing for themselves, their families, their career... their overall satisfaction with life and relationships. I work mainly with individuals who struggle with trauma, addictions, anxiety and depression. If you keep running into the same issues over and over, let's change that together... if you are ready to work, I will take that journey with you and be there through each step. Possible short waiting list, but some appointments are available.

I have always believed in the power of human connection and as a counselor I offer a warm and genuine environment to my clients as they work through their challenges, begin to understand themselves better and to become more resilient. I also believe that a person’s thoughts affect their emotions, that past experiences impact present situations and the importance of living in the here and now. I enjoy working alongside my clients as they heal, grow and change. I work primarily from a person-centered approach and pull from a variety of counseling theories to personalize the therapy experience to the individual needs of each client.

I have many specialty areas including general anxiety/depression, perinatal mental health (for men and women), supporting those dealing with infertility, OCD, trauma and big life changes/transitions.
I can help you reconnect with yourself! It is time to find the balance that allows you to thrive and be the best version of you! When I first meet with clients they often express the feeling that they have lost their identity while trying to keep up with demands placed upon them from kids, spouse, work, and society. They put pressure on themselves to be perfect to the point of anxiety/depression. It's lonely and isolating. I am here to show you that there is hope and meaning in your future. The cycle can be reversed, and you may be surprised how capable and incredible you are with the support of a caring therapist like me.

For those of you burdened by Infidelity—I see you. I won’t downplay the difficulty you are facing. Infidelity is one of life’s hardest challenges but it is far from hopeless! Betrayal crushes your self-worth and sense of security. You look at the past trying to make sense of what happened, and you grieve the future that you hoped you’d have. Right now, you’re overwhelmed with negative beliefs that you’re not good enough, or unloveable. You have ruminating thoughts and don’t know how to get rid of them. I know the path that you’re on and know how to be your guide.

Female Therapists
Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.
Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.
Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.
How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
