With individuals, I rely heavily on Internal Family Systems while blending in the use of experiential therapy and somatic awareness.
I work remotely for The Center for Couples and Families and meet virtually with people from all over Utah. I work with people who feel burned out, feel stuck in life, and struggle to feel good enough. Maybe you know what you “should” be doing to feel better, and yet, for some frustrating reason, you have a hard time following through. In therapy, we can unpack the barriers that keep you feeling stuck and help you make sustainable changes. As we work towards building a better relationship with yourself, you can feel more peace, clarity and confidence. My hope is for you to finally believe it when you say “I am good enough.”

My training includes elements of Somatic Theory, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and EMDR.
Everyone deserves support as they navigate life's challenges, regardless of age, ethnicity, gender, or sexual orientation. Our struggles may manifest differently, but they are all equally valid.
Reaching out to a therapist by phone or email can feel vulnerable. Sometimes, it's easier to confide in someone outside your close circle. Connecting with a professional who offers confidentiality and respects privacy can be incredibly beneficial. They can provide valuable insights and a fresh perspective, which can significantly impact how you view your situation. You're not alone in feeling this way; seeking support is a courageous step.

The human mind can get stuck in negative emotions, beliefs, and other patterns which make it feel impossible to move forward in life. I specialize in interventions (particularly EMDR, ACT, and BWRT) that enable the mind to let release old patterns quickly and often permanently. I specialize in treating trauma and anxiety. But these same interventions work wonders with addictions, depression, and other serious problems.

Somatic Therapists
How does somatic therapy work?
Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.
Is EMDR a somatic therapy?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.
Is somatic therapy evidence-based?
Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.
What is somatic trauma therapy?
Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
