Over the past 14 years I have worked with children, adolescents, and adults in mental health and behavioral health settings helping with things like trauma, grief, and mood disorders.
One of my favorite quotes by Brené Brown says, "Shame corrodes the very part of us that believes we are capable of change." No matter what you've been through or where you are now, I strongly believe you have the power to heal and become the best version of yourself. When we go through a challenging or traumatic event, our sense of self can become tainted, we may feel lost, and we may even no longer view ourselves as powerful, strong, or courageous. It can be scary to navigate that alone.

I specialize in grief therapy, overthinking, anxiety, OCD, OCPD, cultural issues, life transitions, communication skills, and trauma.
I believe that all people are capable of change and meaningful connections. Sometimes we just need help figuring out how to get there. By reshaping our perspectives and behaviors we open new doors for personal growth and improved relationships. In therapy, we can identify the roots of problems, work to build connections, and find ways to move forward. It is a joy to work with people from all walks of life. I have a no-judgment stance in the therapy room. Come as you are and we will work together to determine who you want to be.

Grief and loss happens throughout a lifetime.
As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with years of experience in providing therapeutic counseling in end-of-life situations. Through personal and professional experiences, I have developed a deep understanding of the challenges faced by families with declining loved ones. One day, I received a call from my dad letting me know that my mom could not move, and he needed help. When I arrived, she was on the floor crying extremely confused. My dad and I got her into the car, and to the hospital, which she was diagnosed with a stroke. They told me that when she would be stable she would need to go to a skilled nursing faciltiy.

Working to improve mental health, creating positive changes, and increasing feelings of peace and happiness in one’s life and relationships can be one of the most difficult things anyone undertakes. I believe that therapy is a collaborative journey from where we are to where we want to be. After having walked with so many people navigating this road of personal growth for over 20 yrs I have become comfortable having those uncomfortable conversations it requires. Deseret Counseling understands the path as well, having been voted best counseling in Utah County the last 10 yrs and counting.

I have extensive experience working with survivors of abuse, childhood trauma, complex PTSD, and anxiety, as well as those facing struggles related to grief, relations issues, self-esteem, OCD, identity, and Autism.
Working through Trauma is an incredibly personal and courageous journey, one that feels like a battle against both invisible wounds and the weight of the past. It’s a slow and painful process, filled with moments of doubt, fear, and heartbreak. But there’s something undeniably powerful about each step forward, no matter how small. It's in the moments when you choose to face the darkness that you begin to reclaim your power and your peace. Healing doesn’t mean forgetting—it means finding strength in the scars and learning that you are more than your pain. Through the struggle, you rediscover hope, resilience, and joy once again.

I have experience helping clients navigate through feelings related to anxiety, depression, postpartum mental health, miscarriage, loss, trauma, personality disorders, shame, and self-injurious behaviors.
My philosophy is that we don’t go to therapy to feel good; rather, we go to therapy to get good at feeling. Trauma, abuse, prejudice, shame, and mental illness can all lead to difficulties with experiencing emotions and being accepting of ourselves. My goal is to create a safe, nonjudgmental space to help you navigate, identify, and explore your feelings and behaviors. I specialize in working with women and members of the LGBTQIA+ community. I am conscious of all my clients’ social identities and the impact of oppression and trauma.

Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
