Teen and adult groups are separate.
I'm as comfortable working with a client feeling mildly stuck as one who is in unrelenting crisis. I have many years of experience working with clients with complex trauma, grief, BPD, depression, anxiety, compulsive behaviors, existential and faith struggles, and life changes. Clients that I work with find clarity regarding their deepest values and confidence in living in the present. They heal and grow. I believe in the ability for humans to transform and change and to make healthy change in the world around them. I believe deep acceptance and self-compassion are very important to these processes.

I’ll work with you and your child to help them understand and control their emotions, express them appropriately, and grow into a resilient, happy teen and adult.
Children don’t come with a manual, so you don’t always know what to do when they’re struggling. Big emotions, frequent outbursts, and difficulty focusing… there’s so much advice out there. But what’s right? What’s harmful? Trying to sort through it all is overwhelming. Meanwhile, your child isn’t getting better. One week, things seem a little better; the next, you’re back to square one. It’s painful to watch your once-happy child turn into an out-of-control ball of frustration. You love them more than anything and want them to have all the opportunities they deserve, but it’s getting harder to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

However, the last 5 years has mainly been with adolescent and young adults.
Several of the modalities she uses include Brain Spotting, Trauma-Focused CBT, SMART Recovery as well as a Safe Zone Certification working with the LGBTQ+ population. She believes these forms of therapy create a space for students to access negative memories and feelings then release them, allowing the brain and body to heal.

You might be feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or just tired of going through the motions without real support. Maybe you're dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship stress, or big life changes—and you're ready for things to feel different. You want to be seen, understood, and supported without judgment. You’re looking for a space where you can be real, figure things out, and start moving forward again.

Teen Therapists

What does therapy for teenagers look like?

When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.

How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?

There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.

How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?

It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.

How do you prepare teens for therapy?

You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
