Are you tired of “talking about it” but still not feeling better? You've tried therapy, read the books, or pushed yourself to “move on”—but your nervous system hasn’t. You suffer the effects of trauma: hypervigilance, emotional exhaustion, relationship struggles, or the constant undercurrent of shame. What will better mental health make possible? I work with adults carrying the invisible weight of trauma and neglect —often from childhood, sometimes from adulthood, and often both. My clients are deeply insightful and resilient, but still feel stuck. Together, we heal symptoms related to dissociation, anxiety, and complex PTSD.

Maybe you're going through something painful or confusing—maybe it’s a recent life change, old wounds that won’t stay buried, or emotions that feel too big to handle alone. You might not know exactly what you need, but you know you'd like to feel better, more grounded, and more like yourself. What matters most to is finding a safe, supportive space where you don’t have to perform or protect others—where you can be real, be heard, and start to heal at your own pace.

I have experience working with survivors of domestic and sexual abuse, substance use disorders, and a variety of other topics.
Let's have a cup of tea, get comfy, and have a chat. Therapy can be intimidating, but it can also be a treat. I want to provide a space that is free of judgement and foucses on client empowerment. A place where self love and compassion can thrive. A place where you can be yourself or where you can find yourself. If you're wanting support, compassion, and a bit of a push towards your goals, you've come to the right place!

My ideal client may be struggling with identity, anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationship challenges, or a general sense of feeling stuck in their day-to-day life. They may be asking deep questions about who they are, what they value, and how to move forward in a way that feels authentic and meaningful. I especially enjoy working with clients who are part of the LGBTQ+ community, offering a safe, affirming, and inclusive space where they can explore their identity and experiences without fear of judgment.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who works from a humanistic approach through a trauma informed perspective. This means I recognize how your past experiences impact you each day, and that trauma may have shattered your concept of self, other people, or the world. I will work to help you change how you experience emotions, instead of just eliminating or reducing them.

I work with individuals who have faced trauma, abuse, and/or neglect throughout their lives. They are people who may feel chronic emptiness, internal conflict, activated emotions, and have trouble letting things go. They are individuals who also deal with low self-esteem and feelings of defectiveness, shame or guilt. They come to therapy seeking support to process and understand themselves, and to create new patterns and behaviors in their lives. They want to find thriving, capacity and deeper empowerment; looking for support, integrated care, and honesty.

Hi I’m Kamie! I consider it an honor and privilege to witness someone’s healing journey. I am passionate about empowering people to live their best life! I believe all the best therapists have therapists themselves and strive to be teachable/open-minded. In my free time you will find me having dart wars with my four kids, playing my ukulele, or singing my heart out at karaoke.

Sexual Abuse Therapists
How do therapists treat sexual abuse?
A good therapist will be nonjudgmental and possibly demonstrate active listening, repeating back what the client says to show that they have understood. These skills allow people to feel comfortable discussing their traumatic experiences openly. Some important treatment goals are to restore a sense of safety and to rebuild confidence. In addition to working one-on-one with the patient, a therapist might bring in supportive family members to assist the client.

Do you have to talk extensively about sexual abuse in therapy?
Survivors frequently find it difficult to describe what happened to them out loud. They can even still be in a state of denial if the sexual abuse occurred recently. It is important for survivors to acknowledge that what happened isn’t their fault and to challenge and reappraise any unhealthy feelings or thoughts as they arise. Art therapy and play therapy are useful non-verbal means of communication for some survivors.

How long does treatment for sexual abuse take?
Recovery from sexual abuse can be a long and difficult process. Some survivors are able to move on naturally on their own, given time, while others require the guidance of a trained therapist. Therapy needs vary and can range from a few sessions to months or even years. Healing from sexual abuse takes time, and everyone’s journey will look a little different.

Can trauma symptoms caused by sexual abuse come back after treatment?
As occurs in many cases of trauma, survivors of sexual abuse may experience PTSD-like symptoms long after the abuse has ceased or after an initial round of treatment has occurred. In such a case, there is evidence that prolonged exposure therapy is a useful treatment for survivors, and may be more efficacious than supportive counseling alone. While triggers may continue to cause distress, the idea is that, with time and repeated exposure, their power will fade, allowing survivors to move on with their lives.
