My goal is to help you uncover your strengths, build values-based coping strategies, and develop a sustainable plan for healing. If you’re ready to find a way to better manage your distress and pain, you’ve found the right place. In this work, I've found one of the best ways to work through emotional pain is to first allow yourself to feel it. I often work to help clients change their relationship with their emotions from one of avoidance to acceptance. I work with an attachment lens, and see value in attending to emotional injuries and pain, while also exploring the influence of early experiences.

My clients come to me feeling that life, motherhood, marriage, or just life in general is not what they had hoped for. I often hear from my new clients: “I feel overwhelmed.” “I'm stuck and don’t know how to move forward.” “I feel like I am failing my kids.” “I am burnt out but don’t know what to change.” Can you relate? Motherhood is hard. And even harder when you struggle with guilt, shame, boundaries, and perfectionism. Without help, it’s easy to stay stuck and feed those negative beliefs.

Welcome! I’m Meg, an LCSW with a passion for helping kids and teens grow towards their most fulfilled, secure, and authentic selves. Growing up is hard for everyone, but I’ve found that many of the youth that come to see me have had a harder time than most finding a consistent feeling of safety and belonging in the world. Much of my experience has come from working with those who identify as neurodivergent or LGBTQ+, those diagnosed with Autism, ADHD, or other disabilities, those who have experienced developmental/complex trauma, and those struggling with anxiety, attachment, or self-image.

Trauma finds it's way into each of our lives. Whether it's the loss of a loved one, the end of a relationship, the devastating impact of addiction or the confusing changes in identity; we all find ourselves in situations we never thought would apply to us. It is during these times that a safe place and a clear reflection become invaluable. Having trust in the clinical process takes time; while at the same time confidence can be fostered through authentic connection, a felt sense of empathy, and a true surrender to proven practices. When the right combination is applied, healing is the inevitable result.

We all experience moments in life where we feel at a crossroads or overwhelmed by pain, grief, disconnection, and uncertainty. While we may feel terrified or stuck in a dark place, there also might be a part of us that recognizes these moments of suffering as an opportunity to deeply understand ourselves and, by leaning into our own unique strengths, create meaningful change in our lives. My approach is warm, compassionate, and rooted in the belief that each individual holds the power to create a fulfilling and authentic life.

I love helping kids with big feelings and anxiety. I love breaking down emotional walls and connecting with teens struggling with school, friends, concerns with self harm, or just life in general (its tough to be a teen these days!). I help adults navigate life's challenges (anxiety, depression, grief, general stress, workplace burnout, etc). I have a soft and compassionate approach in therapy and we like to say here that we bring the "Treat" back to Treatment. Of course our sessions wont always be rainbows and butterflies, but the results of our time together will have you or your child growing and finding the joy in life again.

Hello. I am a mindfulness based therapist. I focus on why energy in the mind-body rises when facing conflict and how it is a stress response to “keep you safe." You will be guided to recognize when you are reactive, what that does to your ability to think in that moment, and how to respond differently. When appropriate, I will also utilize EMDR to reprocess stuck trauma. It is truly life changing when you learn to pair life challenges with a calm mind-body.

Are you feeling stuck? Like you want your life to move forward or look a certain way, but you just don’t know how to get there? It’s okay! The feeling of stagnation could be due to lack of motivation, anxiety, depression, grief, loss or low self-esteem. Whatever your concern may be, you will be okay- you just need some guidance! I love connecting with people and facilitating the discovery of healing and empowerment that will lead to living a meaningful life.

I can help you reconnect with yourself! It is time to find the balance that allows you to thrive and be the best version of you! When I first meet with clients they often express the feeling that they have lost their identity while trying to keep up with demands placed upon them from kids, spouse, work, and society. They put pressure on themselves to be perfect to the point of anxiety/depression. It's lonely and isolating. I am here to show you that there is hope and meaning in your future. The cycle can be reversed, and you may be surprised how capable and incredible you are with the support of a caring therapist like me.

FAQs - About Therapy and Counseling

How can I find a therapist in North Salt Lake?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
