Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapists in North Ogden, UT
I offer trauma-informed therapy that integrates EMDR, Brainspotting, Internal Family Systems ( IFS level 1 and 2 trained), and nervous system-focused approaches to help you heal more deeply and feel more connected to yourself.
Many of my clients are high-functioning adults who appear fine on the outside, but internally feel exhausted, disconnected, anxious, or overwhelmed from holding everything together for so long. You may understand your patterns intellectually, yet still feel stuck in cycles of overthinking, shutdown, tension, or emotional overwhelm.
I specialize in helping adults move beyond insight alone by working with the nervous system and deeper emotional patterns. Together, we focus on creating safety, regulation, and lasting healing so you can feel more connected to yourself and your life.

My approach draws on Family Systems therapy, Internal Family Systems ( IFS), Emotionally Focused Therapy, and trauma-informed care.
Parents come to me feeling exhausted and disconnected from their teenager — not because of danger, but because of silence, distance, and arguments that go nowhere. I'm Dr. David Haralson, a Marriage and Family Therapist with a Ph.D. in Medical Family Therapy and over 13 years working with teens and families. At Oasis Family Therapy, I work with both sides — helping parents and teens actually reach each other again. I also serve Spanish-speaking families and bring a culturally sensitive lens to every family I work with.

You’re not lazy. You’re not inconsistent. And you’re definitely not “too much.”
You might be a woman with ADHD.
I specialize in helping women who are tired of feeling overwhelmed, disorganized, emotionally reactive, or stuck in cycles of burnout and shame. Whether you were just diagnosed or have been quietly struggling for years, therapy with me is about making your life work for your brain—not forcing yourself into systems that were never built for you.
We’ll focus on real-life tools, emotional regulation, and untangling the internalized narratives that tell you you’re failing. Because you’re not—you’ve just been unsupported.

I want to help you find relief from distressing symptoms such as explosiveness, irritability, chronic pain and fatigue, impulsivity, distractibility, hyper-excitability, social anxiety, fear, mania, and hopelessness. Life wasn’t what I had expected. Having a chronic illness while trying to raise a child with disabilities (DMDD, Anxiety, ADHD, & Autism Spectrum) and being married to a Veteran Navy Corpsman with PTSD from serving with the Marines in Iraq proved challenging. I searched for answers and found success. I became a therapist to spread hope by sharing what I learned.

Hi there! , My name is Shannon and I'm happy you are here! One of my favorite quotes about life is by Fred Rogers, which says, “anything that is human is mentionable, and anything that is mentionable can be more manageable”. Life inevitably comes with challenges and painful experiences, which can feel overwhelming and shift how we see ourselves, others, and the world. Carrying it alone is exhausting, and can make life feel unmanageable. Some aspects in life are out of our control, others we have some control. Therapy can be hard. Living with unresolved trauma is also hard. My hope for you is that you choose your hard with purpose!

Healing emerges when we are truly witnessed. Each of us carries an innate capacity for growth and transformation, even when buried beneath protective patterns and painful experiences. Our work together involves co-creating an environment where your whole self is welcomed—all parts, all identities, all experiences—allowing your natural healing abilities to flourish.
I specialize in working with LGBTQ+ and neurodivergent youth, young adults, and their families. Growing up in Utah as a queer and neurodivergent person in an LGBTQ+ family has deeply informed my approach as a therapist and my interest in working with these populations.

Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapists
What is Internal Family Systems therapy?
Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a type of talk therapy that focuses on sub-personalities, or “families,” within a person, which may be made up of wounded parts and unpleasant emotions like anger and shame. These sub-personalities can come into conflict with each other and with an individual’s core Self, leaving the person feeling detached from positive traits such as the “8 C’s” of confidence, calmness, creativity, clarity, curiosity, courage, compassion, and connectedness. By healing a patient’s wounded parts, a therapist aims to restore balance and bring on positive change.
How does Internal Family Systems therapy work?
An IFS therapist will work with a patient to identify their particular sub-personalities, recognize the emotions powering them, and release them. By doing so, the patient should become more able to address any underlying problems their sub-personalities may have been trying to protect them from. Ultimately, a patient discovers ways to manage internal and external conflicts on their own, through techniques such as relaxation exercises, journaling, and making charts depicting the relationships between their core Self and their distinct parts.
Does Internal Family Systems therapy work?
IFS therapy has been shown to help people address conditions such as depression, anxiety, panic, fears and phobias, trauma, and substance use disorders. Some research has also found that it can help individuals deal with symptoms of physical health conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, such as pain, everyday functioning, depressive feelings, and low self-compassion. There are some conditions for which IFS treatment, specifically discussions of one’s “parts,” may be less appropriate, such as schizophrenia or other states that involve psychosis or paranoia.
How long does Internal Family Systems therapy take?
As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for IFS therapy. After becoming comfortable with a therapist and the core concepts of IFS, some patients quickly make progress. While experiences vary, most will find that it is a relatively longer-term therapy, involving months and sometimes years of sessions.
