Are you struggling with anxiety or trauma related to your relationships or family?
I help individuals find meaning and joy in the midst of their story. The painful parts of your story do not define who you are, they are part of your story but not the whole story. We will work together to help you to step into your life to live more fully and authentically. I specialize in attachment and trauma and use a mind/body approach to healing.

Trauma and anxiety can leave us feeling disconnected from our authentic selves.
Clients come to me looking for a therapist who is warm, because therapy should be a place where you feel heard and supported. Sessions with me are compassionate, and integrative. Together, we take steps to move beyond crippling anxiety, disconnection, and self-doubt . And we always go at your pace, never pushing to a place you don’t feel ready to be.

I work a lot with teens, individuals who have an autism spectrum disorder, people who have a chronic illness or pain, people with anxiety or depression, and therapists or those in helping professions like me.
Hi. Clients come to me because they want to see changes in their life quickly. I can help them get the results they want without spending years and thousands of dollars. I consider myself honored to witness the stories of courage and resilience from my clients every day. You'll make progress quickly because I'm confident you're doing some things right already. I've learned that life is complicated and each person is unique. There isn't just a one-size fits all formula for solving life's problems. It takes creativity, drive, and tenacity to pull through.

Positive thinking has its place, but it won’t bring back loved ones, break addictions, or make anxiety vanish.
I primarily use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help you create a life that reflects what truly matters to you. My role is to empower you to live on your terms—not as a hostage to your thoughts or feelings.

Anxiety can feel like a ball and chain.
In our first session, we’ll walk through an exercise that will show you a very different way of responding to obsessive thoughts or intense feelings (you know, that feeling of not being able to breathe, or wanting to crawl out of your skin?). When you leave, you’ll feel more at ease and have confidence that there is a way to escape the worry trap!

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
