When trauma or stressors occur in life, we often become split off, or dissociated from the core self. Our core self, also known as the authentic self, is one that resides fully and naturally within all of us. It is place where we find a deep sense of compassion for ourselves and others, a place filled with creativity, wisdom, curiosity, and a sense of ease.

Solution Focused Brief Therapy and
Family
Systems guide my work.
I am a clinic supervisor of other therapists. I work closely with my clinical staff to enhance their skills in helping children, families, and individuals. We work with people to identify their ideal future and concrete steps toward that future. Children and adults often have more skills, abilities, and ideas than they realize. I love working with people to uncover and refine their own gifts of creativity to build personalized solutions. Please contact us to learn more about our range of therapists.

My primary focus is the employment of Cognitive Behavior Theory with a Narrative Therapy Model to guide youth and
family
to realize their strengths can be the difference between a
family
thriving or a
family
just surviving.
Are you plagued with “if only?”: If only I had the patience to deal with my child’s tantrums. If only I had more time to be a good parent. If only I could explain to others about my child’s difficulties. If only I had support. The if only can be overwhelming when dealing with a child that seems different from others of his or her age group. Each child is special and unique. Allow me to guide your child and your
family
to a better understanding of the unique strengths and qualities they are capable of.

After working with Child and
Family
Services for 2+ years, I've learned people are basically good, they just get a little stuck sometimes.
You are so much stronger than you realize. But when life throws you for a loop, it can be difficult to see it. Therapy is a place you can come work through life's difficulties, gain new perspectives, and relearn how to see the inherent good in yourself. I enjoy working with women who are navigating eating disorders, body dysmorphia, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, self-doubt, and other life challenges. I also enjoy working with children as they navigate life. Acknowledging you need therapy is a brave step. I deeply admire you for taking it. Everybody has a superpower, you just may not realize it. Let me help you find yours.

I am committed to my clients and would love to get to know you, your partner, your
family
, and get started on this healing journey with you.
I specialize in working with individuals, couples, and working with teens and their parents. I know it can be difficult to navigate relationships, to feel connected to your partner, to experience depression and anxiety, to be faced with faith challenges, to not know how to deal with a past trauma, and to experience feelings of worthlessness and confusion with who you really are. It can feel difficult to know what steps to take to find peace and balance again. I believe in the ability to change as individuals, couples, and families and desire to meet you where you're at so you can get to where you want to be.

By using Internal
Family
Systems (IFS),
Family
Systems Therapy, and Experiential Therapies, I hope to help accomplish these goals.
I love helping people uncover their true authentic selves. Often we have learned that parts of ourselves aren't loveable, acceptable, or tolerable, and we hide them for fear of being rejected. While working with couples and families, I love helping everyone see each other in a complex and dynamic light. Within moments of vulnerability, connection and healing can occur in individuals and families.

I want you to be free of emotional pain; able to deal with life riding your wave, finding meaning/purpose in
family
, friendships, work, spirituality and all life gives.
Life is too short to surrender to letting adversity, trauma, bad relationships, grudges etc... control us; or be anxious/angry all the time. In 10 years as a clinician, military veteran and retired law enforcement officer, I have been fortunate to be trusted in working with individuals, couples and families as they find answers, healing, understanding or resolve through painful and desperate situations. Empowering them to create resilience and healing in the rest of their story.

What do family therapists do?
A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.
How long does therapy for families take to work?
Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.
How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?
You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.
Is therapy for families effective?
Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
