I pull from a psychodynamic perspective, as well as attachment theory and family systems, while also utilizing ACT and person-centered interventions in session.
I work with young adults, adults, and couples to create healthy changes while diving into deeper work for long-term healing. I feel that a lot of issues that trouble us are related to trauma, dysfunctional relationships (both with the self and others) and problematic patterns that develop from trying to cope with issues without the proper tools. I work with clients to help strengthen their identity, heal trauma wounds, and form positive relationships and connections. I have experience with family and relationship conflict and provide help with parenting challenges, couple’s issues, grief and loss, and self-esteem.

Millie graduated with her Master of Marriage and Family Therapy in 2017. She enjoys working with families, couples and children. She personally understands many challenges that people experience in life. She knows that we all have challenges. Unfortunately we don’t get to choose those challenges, but we can choose how we will deal with them. She believes that confronting and working through those difficult challenges can be hard and at times we need help. By providing a safe place, using empathy, insight and knowledge she will be able to help you navigate through your life story to become the person you want you to be.

The frequency and length of treatment may be different for each individual or family .
Do current events have you frazzled? Ever felt like you were in a relationship with someone who wasn't available? Or are you trying to rediscover yourself after divorce, having a child go off to college, or death of a loved one? I help people with all kinds of situations. Whether you are experiencing problems in a relationship, grief or bereavement, depression, anxiety, or a spiritual crisis, there is hope. I am trained in EMDR, CBT, ACT, DBT, Solution-Focused Therapy, psychodynamic theory, and routinely learn from experts in the field. Perhaps most important though, is that I listen.

Hello! I’m so glad you’re looking for a therapist. I’m the co-founder of Lemi, a modern mental health clinic that’s dedicated to helping you see yourself happier. For the last decade, I have split my time between therapy and crisis work in one of the busiest ERs in Utah. In both settings, I am focused on making a meaningful connection with every person I see. My goal as a therapist is simple—to help you live your best life.

Whether you (or a partner) are going through a life transition (faith, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital), experiencing relationship struggles, or hoping to gain a deeper understanding of your inner world, I welcome people to show up however they're feeling and work at their own pace. Goals can include anything from developing healthy coping strategies, increasing self-esteem, and practicing self-compassion to learning the value of boundaries, working through relationship struggles, or healing from trauma. I hope my clients find therapy a tender space between their daily grind and larger aspirations.

I believe people are understandable and once we reach understanding, solutions seem evident. If you have sought help before and just didn't feel you got to the bottom of the problems or if you are new to therapy and really want deeper solutions I can help you. Psychotherapy is the science and art of clinical work. We will collaborate: you being the authority of your life, and me the authority of psychology and human emotion.

I specialize in working with individuals living with challenges related to trauma, grief, separation and loss, as well as sensitive sexual and relational issues. I use a great deal of sensory-integration and brain-based approaches providing a non-threatening, safe, and inviting relationship with which to share some pretty "scary" stuff. I help individuals improve their relationships with themselves and others, while feeling safer, feeling better about themselves, and feeling empowered in their own voice and actions.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
