I am a licensed clinical social worker, working with individuals, couples, families, children, and adolescents. I use interactive play therapy with children, I teach cognitive therapy (CBT) skills as well as dialectical behavior skills (DBT). I have also been trained in EMDR, which is specific to trauma treatment. I use these and other therapeutic interventions to assist my clients in improving strategies to better regulate emotions, tolerate and work through emotional distress, confront and change faulty thinking patterns, develop healthy boundaries, and improve communication patterns. Problems don't just go away, it takes work, courage, and a strong heart.

I provide online therapy for adults (with a focus on women) healing from trauma, addiction, grief, and the challenges of pregnancy, postpartum, and motherhood. You’ve learned to survive, but now you want to thrive. I help clients who feel stuck in patterns that no longer serve them: addiction or unhealthy coping, toxic relationships, perfectionism. Many are navigating significant life transitions—processing trauma, rebuilding after loss, pursuing sobriety, or adjusting to parenthood. I currently work with incarcerated women in recovery which has deeply shaped my approach as a therapist.

Hi there, my name is Shannon and I am happy you are here! One of my favorite quotes about life is by Fred Rogers, which says, “anything that is human is mentionable, and anything that is mentionable can be more manageable”. Life inevitably comes with challenges and painful experiences which can feel overwhelming and shift how we see ourselves, others, and the world. Carrying it alone is exhausting, and can make life feel unmanageable. Some aspects in life are out of our control, we do have control in others. Therapy can be hard. Living with unresolved trauma is also hard. My hope for you is that you choose your hard with purpose!

Hi, I'm Gabby, and the clients I serve best are people carrying trauma who know something needs to change but feel stuck in patterns that no longer serve them. They come to Blazing Trails because traditional talk therapy hasn't been enough, or because they're drawn to the idea of healing alongside horses in a way that feels safe and non-judgmental. Many are navigating emotional dysregulation, relational wounds, or nervous system overwhelm and want practical skills they can actually use when life gets hard. I help clients move forward by blending trauma-informed DBT, EMDR, and Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy; at a pace they choose.

I believe every person carries an innate capacity to heal, even when circumstances feel overwhelming or impossible to navigate. Healing doesn’t mean forgetting what you’ve been through—it means learning to live fully in spite of it. If you feel motivated to make meaningful changes in your life but currently lack the tools, support, or resources to get there, you are in the right place. It would be an honor to walk alongside you as you reclaim your sense of strength, clarity, and hope.

I have experience supporting veterans, teens, men, and families through trauma, anxiety, depression, self-harm, substance use, and life transitions, but I welcome anyone seeking understanding, growth, and empowerment.
My ideal client is someone who feels stuck or overwhelmed and is looking for support to create lasting change. You might be coping with trauma or grief, a teen struggling with self-harm or anxiety, or someone facing general life changes. What matters most is that you want a space to be heard, understood, and supported as you build confidence, heal, and move toward a life that feels meaningful and connected.

I believe in, and practice from, a relational perspective to address substance use and mental health concerns.
Together we can face your trauma, or depression, or anxiety, or addictions and learn new ways to overcome. I enjoy working with our aging population, people experiencing psychosis, or personality disorders. Additionally, I really like helping young people navigate family life and the transition into adulthood. Couples work? Yeah that too...

I became a therapist because I understand how challenging life can be and how important it is to find ways to thrive despite those obstacles. Through my own experiences, I discovered a deep passion for helping others navigate their struggles. I felt compelled to become a therapist to support and understand those in need. Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of working with clients of all genders; however, as I gained more experience, I found myself particularly drawn to the incredible women with whom I've had the honor of working. Their strength and resilience never cease to inspire me.

Substance Use Therapists
How do substance and drug recovery or rehabilitation programs work?
In inpatient programs, individuals live in a facility with other clients in recovery; in outpatient programs, individuals reside at home. These facilities are staffed with healthcare professionals including physicians, nurses, psychologists, counselors, and psychotherapists. Staff often also includes people who have recovered themselves, serving as mentors and guides. These programs may use abstinence, harm reduction, detoxification, psychotherapy, and other methods.

How do 12-step programs combined with psychotherapy work?
Members of 12-step programs help each other reach abstinence and work to maintain it. These programs promote complete change in the individual’s emotional, mental, physical, and even spiritual perspectives. Some programs require that new members attend 90 meetings in 90 days. Many people do attend these programs in conjunction with their work in psychotherapy; the combination of therapy along with 12-step can be extremely effective.

How does harm reduction combined with psychotherapy work?
According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, harm reduction prevents death, injury, disease, overdose, and substance misuse. People who choose harm reduction for substance use reduce the amount of drugs they consume. It is not abstinence-based like a 12-step program, but combining harm reduction with psychotherapy proves to be effective for many people.

Are there specific medications for substance and drug use?
There are medications approved to treat substance use disorder—such as buprenorphine, methadone, naltrexone, and acamprosate. These medications do help people cope with substance use as well as avoid the problem of relapse. Naltrexone can help reduce cravings, methadone is an opioid medication used to treat severe pain, and acamprosate may help ease symptoms like poor sleep and anxious feelings.
