I am a licensed marriage and family therapist. I am also an AAMFT-approved supervisor. I have two pre-teen kiddos and a wonderful wife who keeps me focused. Originally from Louisiana, I have moved all over the country but have resided in Utah for about 8 years. I enjoy traveling, good food, and the theater (whether movies or stage productions). I have always enjoyed getting to know people. Talking with new people is interesting and exciting for me. I enjoy helping people reach their goals. I look at life like a big puzzle, and I love puzzles!

How might your life be different if you found there is nothing wrong with you and the main issue is the way you’ve tried coping with a belief something was wrong with you? Working together we will find new ways to live, new ways to connect, and new ways to grow.

Kia ora! I am JC. I work with couples, families, and individuals. I specialize in couples therapy because communication is key to an excellent relationship. Some of the most common reasons couples come to see me are: disagreements, relational trauma, family issues, and infidelity. The most important thing to me is a good connection between client and therapist. I work very hard to keep a warm, inviting, and non-judgmental atmosphere in my sessions. I go at your pace and work on the things you want to work on. I am here to help you!

Are you experiencing the effects of trauma, or seeking ways to express grief and loss? I'm a dedicated practitioner of EMDR and other transformative healing modalities. Trauma can alter our lives profoundly, echoing into our adult years. While sometimes our minds and bodies can process these events independently, often, we need additional support to release and express this energy. Whether you're dealing with recent stressors or long-standing issues, I'm here to support you on your journey toward healing. I believe deeply in the power of our innate inner wisdom—that each of us possesses everything necessary for our own healing.

Desperately wrestling the couch cushions into a configuration that won’t kill your back, you finally break down into helpless tears. Your marriage is in tatters and you’re hanging on by a thread. Between your children and your careers, you’ve had nothing left for each other. It feels like you’ve forgotten how to enjoy one another’s company. You feel like a stranger in your own home. It’s either constant bickering or frigid silence. Getting older, you realize you don’t have the energy for either – and this couch brutalizing your spine. You’d do anything to get your best friend back. You need help before this distance grows too great

Whether deconstructing or restructuring, we will work to align your spirituality with your sexuality.
Is intimacy or sex an issue for you? If you are struggling with "sex addiction" labels, sexual shutdown, or the fallout of a faith crisis you can improve your sexual health. I utilize trauma-informed modalities like Internal Family Systems (IFS) and EMDR to help heal the nervous system and dismantle deep-seated shame. I specialize in helping individuals and couples shift from a high-pressure, performance-based model of sex to one rooted in authentic pleasure, autonomy, and safety.

I specialize in helping individuals, couples, and families navigate relationship challenges, spirituality, and chronic illness.
Are you feeling unseen, unheard, or invalidated? I see you. I work with individuals who have spent years feeling a deep sense of shame, questioning "why me?" and "what have I done to deserve this?" You may be feeling lost in grief, unable to keep your head above water. While you may have a lot to be proud of, it's the difficult parts of life that leave you feeling broken. We can work together to help you regain your footing.

I thoughtfully tailor treatment using approaches such as EMDR and CBT most often, while also incorporating Reiki, energy clearing, and spirituality when appropriate to support healing on emotional, mental, and energetic levels.
I have over 10 years of experience helping adults and children heal from trauma, anxiety, depression, and PTSD. I specialize in EMDR therapy, which helps reduce symptoms such as nightmares, hypervigilance (fight, flight, freeze), and emotional distress by reprocessing traumatic experiences. I use an integrative, flexible approach that may also include CBT, Solution-Focused Therapy, and an understanding of epigenetics—the way emotional patterns can be passed through generations. Telehealth is available for added flexibility. I invite you to reach out for a free consultation to see if we’re a good fit.

I believe therapy is a collaborative process between the client and the clinician that requires skilled listening, compassion, and effective interventions to help relieve suffering, promote empowerment, and enable growth. I prioritize creating safety and connection. I approach that process with the belief that each client has a unique foundation of strengths to build upon, that all people are capable of change and growth, and that everyone deserves to find peace and joy in their life. My experiences have nurtured a keen sense of cultural sensitivity and curiosity for those whose lives and perspectives are different from mine.

Spirituality Therapists
What should I expect from therapy that incorporates a focus on spirituality?
Spirituality can mean different things to different individuals, depending on their experiences, beliefs, and life histories. Some individuals focus on strengthening their belief system, while others experience spirituality in secular ways, such as through meditation, yoga, or by spending time in nature. Clients can expect a therapist to help guide and grow their spirituality through any of these techniques, encouraging the individual to cope with the challenges they face and develop strategies to build resilience and purpose to improve their outlook in life.

What are the most common treatments that include spirituality?
There are several treatments that incorporate spirituality. Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) helps a person examine and reframe their negative thoughts and behaviors. Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) focuses on emotional acceptance and psychological flexibility. Existential therapy is most often used to address anxiety, depression, grief, loneliness, apathy, despair, questions of identity, and feelings of purposelessness and existential dread. Transpersonal therapy focuses on a client’s spirituality and meaning in life and may incorporate techniques including meditation, visualization, hypnotherapy, dream analysis, and or breathwork.

Can therapy incorporating spirituality help atheistic or agnostic individuals?
Yes. For non-believers, spirituality can offer benefits including a greater sense of connection to others and to the natural world. An interest in spirituality may also spur individuals to pursue mindfulness practices, or to contemplate their purpose in life and how to achieve it.

How effective is spirituality as a therapeutic remedy?
Research suggests spirituality is generally beneficial for individuals. It is correlated with better health habits, such as less substance use, and an improved capacity to cope with stress and other mental health challenges. Increased spirituality can lead individuals to become more empathic and less materialistic, as well.
