I am a licensed clinical social worker, working with individuals, couples, families, children, and adolescents. I use interactive play therapy with children, I teach cognitive therapy (CBT) skills as well as dialectical behavior skills (DBT). I have also been trained in EMDR, which is specific to trauma treatment. I use these and other therapeutic interventions to assist my clients in improving strategies to better regulate emotions, tolerate and work through emotional distress, confront and change faulty thinking patterns, develop healthy boundaries, and improve communication patterns. Problems don't just go away, it takes work, courage, and a strong heart.

I enjoy working with individuals, couples and families. I have spent much of my career helping individuals work through issues such as anxiety, depression, emotion control- including anger management, and peer and family relationships. I have helped couples navigate difficult situations including addiction and codependency, infidelity, disconnection, and poor communication. I also enjoy helping parents navigate through the highs and lows of the parenting process.

You might be feeling stuck in patterns you don’t fully understand. Maybe it’s intrusive thoughts, constant worry, or the emotional weight of pregnancy, postpartum, or other women’s health concerns. You’ve been trying to manage on your own, but it’s exhausting. You want to feel more in control, more like yourself, and more hopeful about what’s ahead.

Sometimes in life we need to learn how to hold things lightly, even when we are feeling deeply. As a counselor, I use a person-centered approach to explore new perspectives and navigate challenges + the ripples they make in life. My approaches vary from solution-based methods for challenges like life transitions, to somatic therapy for people who are navigating health trauma. Every situation is different, so the goal of my approach is to collaborate with my clients to find out what methods resonate with them and their experience so that they can build resilience and live a life that is in alignment with their authentic self.

If boundaries are good for me, why are they so scary? Many of us were never taught how to set healthy boundaries with those around us, let alone know what a boundary even is. This can lead to you feeling pushed around, taken advantage of, or that you’re small, like your voice doesn’t matter. I’m here to tell you that your voice DOES matter, and that you get to make and set the rules of your life. You have the ultimate say, it’s just a matter of learning to trust yourself and being bold about what you want and need.

I help adults with depression, anxiety, transitions, grief and trauma. I have experience working with women and women issues including postpartum difficulties and fertility issues. I also work with couples and families by following the Gottman Method. I am experienced with adults with substance abuse and pornography/sexual addiction. I strive to cultivate an environment of safety and connection with my clients to provide support and healing. It takes courage to seek the help of a therapist, especially when trauma is involved, because so often the trauma has occurred in relationships. When I first meet a client I want to respond with enough empathy and sensitivity to the distress which brings you to my office that we can begin to build a healing relationship. In an atmosphere of genuine safety and acceptance we can begin to collaborate in understanding and resolving your concerns. I draw on a number of theoretical perspectives and more than 30 years of clinical experience to provide therapy that is effective and compassionate, in a confidential and comfortable setting.
